@@Skybridgeclub GT, it's a trick worth repeating. I fall into the trap of thinking, oh it's a 50/50 chance, but you can increase those odds by forcing the opposition to guard their winners and have to guess which to throw. Hence the evil!

With two four card suits some players open the higher suit and some players open the lower suit. But with hearts and spades most players open 1H. If partner has hearts then you find your heart fit immediately. If partner doesn't have hearts then it's still possible to bid spades at the 1 level. If the opener bids 1S then it's not possible to bid hearts at the 1 level. I hope that helps!
