You know you've made it when someone on the trail recognizes you. Congrats!

Definitely really cool, but I don't know if I could say I made it. I am still a pretty small fish in this giant ocean.

You cut out the one of the best parts at 11:30, that uphill bolder that I have finally mastered! Now working on the beginning section of Chaparral with the stitch back bolder climb.
@mtbingadventures15514 жыл бұрын
I probably cut that out because I didn't make it. I can't remember what it's like there to much. I need to get out and ride this some more. Now you got me curious and I will need to go back and try that uphill bolder section.

I ride this trail it’s a blast. I usually ride the River to Ridge Trail, then climb up via Lake Marie Road to the locked gate. From there, I turn around and bomb it down hill and take the right at Chaparral Trail. There is a steep technical section at the beginning of Chaparral that I haven’t been able to concur so I hike my bike up that part and then continue up before bombing it down again. Chaparral is just a blast. From there I take Manzanita back through the Park entrance and to River to Ridge which spits me back out to the parking lot. I am hoping to work my way up to taking Buckeye instead of Lake Marie Road.

I have some friends that live in Vacaville and ride Skyline a ton. They have been showing me all sorts of great lines at Rockville. I should have them show me around Skyline one day. I have only been out there a few times and I'm probably missing a lot of great stuff. Sounds like you do several miles out there from time to time. I will be sure to check out the Chaparral trail next time I'm out there.

Hey Vic, assuming you're local, are there any bike shops close by that rent full suspension bikes?

Thanks RC. I am loving the scenery when it is all green like this. I hope we get some more rain so the green will last longer. We barely got any this year.

Next time you should park on the west side where the college is at. you miss some fun techy climb. I was lucky met up with some local on my first time there they let me tag along show me their favorite route and was a blast.

Thanks for sharing the video - i'm looking forward to riding here soon. A couple of questions - the intro shows a super gnarly rock garden - how common is this type of obstacle at this park? And second, what type of bike, travel measurements would you recommend for here?
@mtbingadventures15514 жыл бұрын
You won't find a lot of rock gardens that are too crazy at Skyline. If I remember correctly there are many easier ones and maybe half a dozen harder ones. Many of them can be avoided or they're short enough to walk. I think this place actually can be ridden on a hardtail really. But a bike with 130mm to 150mm front and 130mm or more rear would be plenty. The bike I was on was 140mm front and 130mm rear (I think). I was on a 2016 Specialized Stumpjumper 6 Fattie. I haven't been on that bike for awhile now and I forget exact travel specs. Place is great for cruising and having fun.

Awesome video! I am trying to decide between a 160mmFT/147mmRT or 130mmFT/120mmRT bike set up. I will be riding Skyline 95% of the time. Which would you go with?
@mtbingadventures15514 жыл бұрын
I'm a pretty big fan of 160mm front (I have 160mm rear which I love). I feel this doesn't limit you for going on more difficult features and stepping up your game. If that is what you are looking to do. If you feel like you are going to be more of a chill rider the 130mm will handle everything you throw at it and probably a touch lighter. Not sure if the weight makes that much of a difference unless you are going to be a competitive racer or you plan on doing super long rides. The longer travel has my vote.
