If he was woke, he would have bent the knee to all the German bishops that demanded gay marriage, devorce, married priests and women priests. He is not woke. He is communist or socialist but what he said there is entirely Catholic since the Grace of the Lords resides in every one, even in those who never had the chance to meet Jesus. And because of that grace, everyone, including atheists feel the need to be with the Lord. The only true path is Jesus, but the rest of the religions look for God too and sometimes the Grace of the Lord can sparkle in them. That is why all human beings can do good even if they are not catholics. That is why we Catholic are so lucky but, at the same time, share more responsability for our actions than those who do not know Jesus. None of us should be throwing stones at others so easily. Pope Francis has to be a deplomat in times when Christianism is in danger and in constant attack in the West and the Eeast, when Christian lives are at risk, for example in Nicaragua, China, Nigeria and even in Venezuela. I wish people had a wider scope of thought, at least those who pretend to defend the West.

The Catholic Church does not have to change its believes because of contextual circumstances. If you had watched his past whole interventions you would have known he does not believe closing the border is a soluttion in the sense that stoping people who want to prosper is a sin. But he was talking about stoping immigration mafias, using legal access to migration and helping developing countries so that people do not have to migrate. But he never ever said that killing children was the same as closing borders, what he said is that abortion is murdering children and so people had to decide on their own and vote the less damaging. Which everyone knows is, by the way, murdering children. He did not say it because he cannot, but he somehow supported Trump. This been said, I am begining to think that there is actually a radical right inside what I never call today's "far right". It was bad enough to have to deal with socialists and comunists hating Pope Benedict and the Church, running media campaigns against them every single day of the week for a decade, to now hear supposed conservatives attacking it all they long, attacking the only Church that remains faithful to Jesus, who has no women priests or do not celebrate gay marriage or support divorce or abortion and euthanasia. The Pope may be socialist himself, but he is not saying anything uncatholic or that a conservative like me would critizise. And I want to stop mass migration as much as you do. But I do not have to deal with tyrants that are menacing Catholic communities in China, in some muslim countries, in Europe, in Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba or Nigeria. While I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment, your idea of papal infallibility is incorrect. The popes statements were not made ex cathedra, therefore they are not binding on Catholics. Even if they were, We are not obligated to submit to anything, regardless of who says it, that contradicts, the divine deposit of faith.

If somebody who is an agnostic, firmly believes in all their heart that we should love one another, then that is an aspect of the whole truth. Again, not the truth, but an aspect of that truth. A potato is a vegetable, but vegetable is not a potato. The Pope here is trying to interact in the world with charity, in understanding that there are people of all faiths who aim towards a good. And I think at the moment there is an issue of Christian elitism, where we lord over people, instead of understanding people, and try to build bridges with people. What the Pope says here is not infallible Catholic doctrine, it's his opinion, and Catholics are more than welcome to disagree with it. I think people are so quick to bash the Pope if he says anything remotely left-wing. The Kingdom of God is much greater than right or left politics. Maybe we should be humble, as Jesus instructed us, and before jumping on a man who has committed his life to Christ, studied Theology, and was selected by Cardinals to lead the Church, we should stop to question if maybe we may be wrong.

This is inaccurate. The Pope has been both misquoted and misunderstood. It is the Catholic faith that Jesus died for all, and that includes non Catholics. That means that salvation must be possible through non Christian religions. The Pope believes that Jesus is the way but he knows that for the millions of non Christians, there must be a way that Jesus touches their lives, and that means their religions are not all false or all bad.
