I know!! Why kill the Red Eagle?? Should one also kill and vilify William Wallace too?? Another example lately of this mindless scripting of lore, and having the Dragonborn's only way to interact is by killing the central character. The Pale Lady, minding her own business, just wants her sword back after it was stolen. A Kajiit, desperate to return it, is hunted by a bandit chief who wants the sword for himself. The Kajiit gets killed in the process. Along comes the Dragonborn, kills the Pale Lady and takes her sword - just because he can, or just because he can AND the game tells him to "Banish Pale Lady". To quote Mr. Potato head: "How about we don't?? Has everybody taken stupid pills?" These days I don't just blindly do what the game tells me to. For that reason Anise and Moira are still alive - and a LOT of Hold Guards are dead.

Miraak's tomb sure did have a claw wall. But since he betrayed the dragons and killed quite a few of them, its likely that after he was defeated by Vahlok the Jailer, the claw to the door was likely found, and either buried far away, or thrown into the sea to add insult to injury. And since Miraak was mind-controlling people and had them rebuilding his temple, he had his thralls break the door down.
@robertashmore1942 Жыл бұрын
I thought similar except the dragon loyalists likely simply smashed the door apart when laying seige to Miraak's temple, which also accounts for how damaged the place is.

Although I like the idea of Miraak getting frustrated and annoyed at a Claw door, I can't see why he'd damage it and at least not make anyone repair it. My theory is that someone else destroyed it - perhaps Vahlok the Jailor when he and Miraak fought. After all, the Black Book that houses Miraak is located further inside, and why would he want a defense mechanism that protects that to be destroyed - even if by his own hand? Also, we know that the Temple was Miraak's right? So, why wouldn't he have the Claw that goes with the door? I can understand him destroying the door if he didn't have the matching claw, but he should have it and know how the door works; right?
@zacharysimmons41154 жыл бұрын
Theory on the difference between Solstheim and Skyrim draugr: the 'servant' draugr came first, created by the Dragon Cult. The Skaal found the practice abominable, given their respect for nature and natural processes. Then, when Miraak and Vahlok the Jailer had their titanic battle that supposedly broke Solstheim off from the mainland, the Skaal tribesmen took shelter from the carnage in the tombs. Some of the crypts ended up buried due to all the landscape-altering fighting, and the now trapped Skaal resorted to cannibalism. This is why the All-Maker made them into draugr: he turned them into the same abominations they had once feared.
@AmalgmousProxy4 жыл бұрын
Embalming tools are often laying about in those tombs. I wonder if these tools are what are necessary to create the Draugr. They don't appear to be your atypical "zombie". Their bodies seem more purposefully mummified, and at the same time, not completely dried out. After all, some can use the voice. This also explains who has been keeping the fires going in the tombs.

Regarding the Nords all being sealed alive in the tombs, it seems likely that this was the punishment meted out to the supporters of Miraak after he lost to the Guardian. Draugr is basically the ancient Nordic word for zombie in real life. Therefore all the living dead can be called that, no matter how they became a Draugr.

Red Eagle can spawn as Dragon Priest if your high in level when you get the objective.
@Havok912 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: You can actually get both of the Red Eagle weapons if you find the key weapon in the wild, complete the quest to get Red Eagle's Bane, then find "The Legend of Red Eagle", forcing the key weapon to respawn and officially starting the quest. Simply take the key, place it in the slot to open the tomb completing the quest, and remove the key as it is. Red Eagle doesn't respawn himself so the weapon never changes and you get to keep it AND Red Eagle's Bane.

Fire magic....Or the rocks lying around everywhere
@jameshubbell20004 жыл бұрын
@@recklessabandon5678 TLDR: I go super detailed about a tiny detail. Draugr often use frost magic, and are weak to fire damage. I don't think many of them use fire spells. Also, only certain stones can be struck together to make a spark that has the potential to create a flame. This includes the famous flint and steel (or steel on steel, if you're desperate, strong, and skilled), but even these combinations need dexterity to strike properly, as well as proper fuel that catches easily (often dry grass or other long, thin materials).

@@jameshubbell2000 No, Draugrs arent weak to fire damage, they are resistent to frost because they are nords and immune to posion because they are undead. Exist only 3 enemies with some weak, the 2 Trolls and Vampire. You can check the wiki if dont believe in me. But yes, no draugr uses fire magic

Draugr is an old scandinavian word for "drowned" it also became synonymus with the "Undead" "Vengefull dead" and "Dishonored Dead" in scandinavian mythos. I suspect the reason for why both the Skyrim and Skaal are both called Draugr is most likely because they are "The Dishonorable Dead" among the Skaal due to cannibalism, and in Skyrim because during and after the revolt against the dragons i doubt most nords looked favorably upon the dragon cult. As for Apperance, Mummification and Dessication are quite similar in apperance on a human body.

Here's a puzzler: A number of draugr can Shout. Since the only Dragonborn around back then would have been Miraak, one would assume that they must have been Tongues taught to fight dragons and the dragon cult during the Dragon War. So, how did they end up in tombs built and maintained by that cult, many of which contain dragon priests? Did they turn renegade and start serving the cult? Or did dragon cultists manage to snag their corpses and use them to make particularly-powerful guardians for those tombs? Another puzzler: Given that he was not a Nord, how did Red Eagle become a Nord-type draugr wearing ancient Nord armor and buried in a (conveniently empty) tomb of ancient Nord architecture a thousand years after the dragon cult had been eliminated?
@richardduncan29544 жыл бұрын
Nord type dragur are the only ones ive seen. So the probubly all look the same (other then beast types) but also I think since the dragur were in the tombs for thousands of years some stronger ones (I.e the higher level and tier) could learn to shout through the way of the voice. They arnt mindless just not as intelligent. I mean ulfric learned in Like 20 years.

Its interesting since the loading screen says that are punished in this form because they were ALL apart of the dragon cults. But Potema uses her old followers to fight you in solitude. They were also Draugr. Also, idk if this was just a game mistake (deliberate or accident) but they all use 3rd age imperial currency. In oblivion (im probably wrong on this) the Ayleid zombies had there old money. Most tombs are very ancient but some were placed their in the 3rd age with draugr. And then theres that one place with ghosts instead of Draugr (the last tomb in the companions questline).

Have full sneak perks and go archer class. Shoot the draugr deathlord whom has a disarm shout while sneaking. Never get disarmed and lose your weapon. Problem solved. Fill perk points for sneak all the way up to shadow warrior as well bows three times more damage perk. Have all perk points for archery all the way up. You will have to level up archery and sneak to 100. Go legendary if you deem necessary. Either way, with archery perk point filled for chance to paralyze target at 100 you may even have a chance to paralyze the draugr deathlord (which occurs the moment your reticle makes bead with the enemy should the chance occur, you dont even need to fire to paralyze the target). And eureka! You greatly reduce the chance of being disarmed and permanently losing your weapon. Treat every draugr deathlord with the extreme prejudice assumption that each one could have that shout, take no chances. And if you're a good enough sneak, you can still use one or two handed weapons to sneak attack. If you get caught, better be quick at making distance and acquiring cover away from the shout or avoiding its trajectory if you're good at strafing to avoid attacks..
