Something I've always wanted was deeper lore and perks for praying to a specific Aedra or Daedra. Like imagine if at some point in the game you could vow allegiance to an Aedra or Daedra and as you level up with their blessing you get more and more perks or skills befitting that devine's champion. Sounded cool to me. Lemme know if I explained that right:P

The thing is unlike the Deadra the Adrea prefer to not involve themselves in the affairs of mortals. Only in dire circumstances do they act. They prefer mortals to sort out problems but are sometimes willing to give the tools or sutle hints to aid them complete the task. Example is the divines creating the Divine Crusader relics to Pelinal so he could help Alessandro crush the Ayleids. The dragonborn being sent into the world is another example. The Adrea also barely ever communicate with mortals it's usually done with visions and dreams. Again it's just how the Adrea are the total opposite of the Deadra. It could be also the Aedric can be killed while a Deadric Prince can not the Aedra may take a more cautious approach to things for their own safety.

Aedra can actually be more powerful than Daedra, since (long, convoluted conversation aside) they get power through worship. However they act more like guides, unlike the Daedra who tend to tell their followers what to do, except Sheogorath, who is another story in of itself.

Actually, while Lorkhan is completely a Padomaic deity, he's still an Aedra, just one who tricked the other Aedras into helping him create Mundus at the cost of most of their power(for the most powerful ones) and also at the cost of their divinity(for all other ones). Originally, the deity-like beings were just the Et'Ada, who with the creation of Nirn got separated in two sides. The Aedra are those who took part in the creation of Mundus with Lorkhan(thus including him too, as well as Magnus and his followers even though they ran away in the middle of the job). The Daedra are those who didn't take part in the creation of Mundus at all. This thus also mean that in both sides there are some who are only Padomaic, some only-Anuic, and some who are a mix of both.

Oblivion kind of had that. If you went around killing people, the gods would absolutely refuse to have anything to do with you (even if you wanted to do the knights of the nine dlc) until you repented and did a pilgrimage to each of their shrines.

yeahhh But still, that's just a redemption mechanic. Having one that affects your stats, skill trees and perks automatically would be great. Needing like LVLwhateverthehell bad karma for the dark brotherhood to notice you, and good karma for some others to notice (maybe specific gods for specific guilds). Same with Daedra, needing to work for specifically one of the Princes to even notice and then getting an item. Not the usual: You are the special, get to level 20 or something and then instantly get permission to go on my quest.

While I definitely think that it would be kind of cool to get a unique perk for having X amount of good or bad karma, I wouldn't really want it to touch my skill tree to be perfectly honest. My main problem with a karma system is that it's not you (the player) who decides what's wrong or right, it's Bethesda. So maybe you think that it's perfectly morally right to join the Imperial Legion, but Bethesda thinks that the Stormcloaks are the right decision. Well, you just lost karma for something that you thought was agreeable. This is an extreme example, and I highly doubt that Bethesda would make you lose karma for something that they worked so hard to make into more of a grey area, but my point is that I'd rather decide for myself what the right decision is rather than the game.

Nocturnal, for example, rewards stealth, and though her domain includes theives, it is still arguably a gray area. Same for Azura or Meridia. Even Aedra like Kynareth could be seen as bad at times, her spriggans are often needlessly violent. An interesting idea might be a system that tracks certain aspects, like being generous or greedy. Mara and her followers would want nothing to do with someone who is very sadistic. Likewise Molag Bal would want nothing to do with someone who is helpful or heroic.

I'll give you a pass on Auriel's Bow since technically Auriel and Akatosh are kind of the same but Magnus isn't an Aedra. The Aedra are the beings that gave part of themselves to create Nirn. A part of Magnus exists in Nirn as magicka because those that didn't stay left and opened holes between dimensions. This causes Magnus' power to filter in. He's more of a Daedra than anything since he just interacts. That's why his artifacts are in Nirn. He actually created the Staff of Magnus so he could interact with the mortal real without his power destroying everything - it's why it's stated in the CoW quest line that it's the only thing that can contain Magnus' power. Also the Aedra can interact with the mortal realm but don't since they can die. They're basically in hiding.

I don't see why you would need to "given him a pass" on Auriel's Bow, Auriel is just as much Aedra as Akatosh, more so in fact, since we know Auriel in the timeline originated first. And Magnus DID help with the creation of Mundus, and sacrificed some of his power. He simply escaped once he, the Architect, found out that Lorkhan had tricked the others, and so he blasted through Aetherius as fast as he could before he lost too much power to escape. By definition, he's more Aedra than Daedra. Plus, he resides effectively in Aetherius more than any of the other Aedra, who are tied and sorta stuck part way in Mundus. He doesn't have a Daedric Realm in the planes of Oblivion

I find it interesting that you took the time to mention Talos, but left Tiber Septim's armor off the list. It doesn't have the same level of power or importance as some of the others, but it has one of the most interesting creation stories. Basically, the Armor worn by Tiber Septim was crafted by mortals and began its existence as nothing more than some admittedly fancy and nice armor. After Tiber Septim died and became the 9th Divine known as Talos, the armor was affected and gained divine status. This can be seen in its use to fulfill the "blood of a Divine" requirement when Martin performs the ritual to open a door to Mankar Camoran's paradise. I'm not sure what happened to the armor after Martin wore it during the Battle of Bruma. I always found that artifact fascinating for its creation story. It started out as mundane armor and ascended to divine status, mirroring Tiber Septim's ascension from mortal to the 9th Divine, Talos.

Then again if Auriel's bow would be truly god like, people would now complain that it's over powered. It is also one of the best combat bows in the game because of it's fire rate and it's unique sun damage ability. However I do agree that it is slightly too nerfed and that is true with all aedric and daedric artifacts in the game. It shouldn't be possible to just smith up and enchant better stuff on your own than what the actual gods can do. But ofcourse you are also the dragonborn blessed by a god itself so there's that too :D

Arguably he acquired said Godhood in part by mantling Lorkhan/Shezzar, which, depending on which pantheon you follow could make him either an Aedra, Daedra, or something in between. Talos filled the place of the "missing god" in any case.

The Chim-el Adabal is most certainly an artifact of lorkhan. The book Amulet of kings in earlier elder scrolls games stating that the pact was made between Alessia and shor. This was changed to akatosh when Oblivion was released. Penal Whitestrake was also cleary linked to shor/lorkhan however everyone who witnessed his presence at Alessia death bed decribed him as a dragon leaning over her. There is however theories that lorkhan and akatosh are the same being, much as is sheorgorath and jyggylag

I’d love it if the Aedra played a much more central role in people’s lives. I love the lore in the Elder Scrolls but I wish they would have handled the Aedra differently. Rather than loosing power as a result of creating the world they could have instead simply been bound to it. Then they could have been just as powerful and active as the Daedra.

Just a bit of a correction for the end, the Daedra interact with Nirn Easier than the Aedra. The Aedra have been known to interact with mortals from time to time, it's simply less common however as Aetherius is quantifiably harder to reach than Oblivion, and I'd assume it works both ways as ut does with Oblivion.

I think it’s because the Aedra left Nirn and the realm it’s in after they were finished and became divines again residing in Aetherius, whereas the Deadra planes of oblivion are like planets in the same realm as Nirn so they’re closer, they also are more influential on Nirn because they want to be worshipped and revered by what they see as meaningless creatures that are beneath them whereas the Aedra give no fucks about being worshipped and just wanted off that rock after Lorkan fucked them over. I don’t think the Aedra actually care about Nirn and the people worshipping them, kind of like “It’s up to you now, protect yourselves. K, bye.”

Nirn is the actual planet, while mundus is the plane (Consists of Nirn, the 2 moons, and the Aedric realms forming a kind of barrier between mundus and oblivion)

I think that there should be aedric/ daedric gear and weapons that at the cost of exp. reduction has relatively powerful effects. For example, say at the cost of 5% total exp. per encounter have a sword that does elemental damage strongest to an enemy or gauntlets that allows you to dual wield two handed weapons.

Top Kek Every piece was crafted by the original 8 divines. They are Aedric in their origins. The sword was created by Arkay the shield Julianos for example. The Crusader is the champion of the divines their mortal instrument.
