Skyrim Anniversary Edition Mods, Xbox Series X: Skyland vs Noble Skyrim Graphics Overhaul Comparison! 4K/60fps.
In this video we compare two of the most popular Graphics Overhauls for Skyrim and take a look at how well they work for Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Xbox. The two Graphics Overhauls we're going to be looking at are Skyland and Noble Skyrim. In my Better Graphics for Skyrim Load Order, I do use the Skyland Suite of Mods, but Skyland isn't the only game in town. Lets see how it compares to Noble Skyrim on Xbox Series X in 2021!

I really love Skyland. I think it is just phenomenal. There are times I'm traveling around Skyrim and I just stop and look at the view. Skyland looks so sharp to me, the detail on things looks really nice. It's like a pretty face lift of Vanilla.

Windhelm is not covered. I brain-farted while making the video. I'm managing a lot of moving parts between this channel, regular life, being a dad, a husband and playing the occasional game for fun, etc. I try to be as accurate as possible at all times, but I didn't realize it until after I'd uploaded it. Pulling it, re-editing that section, re-rendering and re-uploading--which would eliminate all views and momentum from the video just isn't worth it to me over that.

Organic Skyrim is a good choice, it weighs 1G but it already includes SMIM and High Poly Projetc, so we complement it with Skyland Landscape it looks really nice and it will give a total of 1Gb 3MB, it looks really nice.

By the time you add in Skyland Lods (over 450mb, but you would be silly not to in 2023) and a full high quality SMIM, the file space difference is actually fairly negligible. Noble and Graphics pack seem jarring at first when you look at the size, but they also include a ton of quality textures for many world items (clutter, food, furniture, meshes in Graphics Pack, etc) that Skyland doesn't cover, as it's primarily 1k/512 architecture and landscape textures only (hence the much smaller initial size.) Because of this, Noble and Graphics pack each have their own SMIM so you don't have all the wasted overlap since you already have textures for a lot of world items and furniture, etc. You get quality SMIM w/ the combo of their base mods and their own SMIM, which is smaller because of this. With Skyland, you will need to run a FULL independent SMIM with all the textures included, which will cost you 500-650mb+ for a high quality pack (assuming you are on a S/X, and/or want the fancy animated potions, etc like Graphics pack.) SkyLods are also large in comparison to Noble. They are REALLY good though (HQ Lods built around their own landscape and architecture will make a MASSIVE difference in your immersion and gameplay experience.) I will note, that if you want the BEST OF THE BEST for your Series X though, then you should run the individual Skyland modules, as they are 2k-1k, as opposed to AIO's 1k-512. I don't think anything beats it on console with the Lod pack installed alongside it. You can try to build your own custom texture LO with all the best individual retextures, but you will not have a Lod pack that matches both the landscape and architecture. Skyland 2k-1k with Sky Lods is the full, comprehensive, cohesive package for XSX in 2023. Especially w/ a full SMIM, a banging grass/Flora mod, and something like Traverse the Ulvenwald, or a Happy Little trees based pack w/ Aspens Ablaze and/or Blubbo's, Swamp trees, etc w/ a good tree LOD package included. Muah, al dente perfection 😗👌.

the stonework on noble looks more realistic same with the straw over the houses I'm not a fan of skyland when it comes to buildings. like the walls in riverwood and whiterun almost look like individual 3d bricks with noble until you get close to it obviously

Greetings and salutations! I have studied your videos carefully and have learned that the less mods, the better. I also came to the conclusion that Skyland was pretty close to Noble but was a bit smaller making more space available on the xbox. So, I used Skyland AOI Arch and Land in my LO. Now that Skyking has made Skyland truly AIO (and deleted the AIO Land and Arch) it seems to be the way to go. My question is that you did not mention whether the Noble mods, being multiple, would not be as xbox friendly as Skyland, being two and now one. Is that another advantage for Skyland or are the number of Noble mods small enough not to affect performance.

Why is there no 'Lock on' mod available on Skyrim (consoles) ? This is esp needed when battling using 3rd Perspective view esp. using weapons, defence, archery as becomes is very fiddly esp fighting multiple enemies, also in tight places.

It would and that would be great. I could be wrong, but I think there are a few more 2K textures thrown into the split version, but that isn't a huge deal. Also the split version would allow someone to use Skyland Landscapes with Noble (or other) architecture mods. So if you want just Skyland--using AIO is great.

@@N1GHTM4RE84 I recently learned more from the MA himself. I think the size limit for individual mods is around 1 gig on Xbox and he had run out of room to add anything to the original AIO. Also, there were a few other patches to add to it ending in 4 total mods, 1 big one and 3 small ones. So he updated AIO for the last time and froze it. It's now "Legacy" and will always work and it's there for you, but it will never be updated. He split the new AIO into 2 mods, Landscapes and Architecture so that he would have room to update and add indefinitely and now it's only a 2 mod list instead of 4.

Great comparison! For me they look similar enough that I would rather save 1 gb of space since I use a ton of mods and that's always an issue for me. Apparantly Noble covers more than skyland though? What are the differences in what's covered between them?

Clutter Items and, I'd guess some furniture. Maybe some of the stuff covered by SMIM as Noble has an SMIM for it. Probably it has textures to cover that stuff. Skyland covers way more than it used to though, so the difference is probably less. Also, with Skyland, you need an SMIM (I use Divine) so tack on another 400-is mbs to that 1.2 Gigs. With Noble the SMIM is included into the 2.2 Gig figure.

noble barely have any texture for both dlc so you definitely be needing two separate dlc textures !noble covers more clutter which is unnecessary if you use smim and high poly project which you probably have ,you can check their folders yourself and get a good grasp . skyland currently have everything ready for first dlc ,for 2nd dlc not alot ,I advice rally's solstheim except raven rock and you are good to go

I'm gonna have to try your load order. Ever since the patch in November I can't get stable load order. I've tried 40 or 50 times by now. I'm on the Xbox 1x. I crash every time I leave Helgan. I prefer Noble mods and I've been using Tamrielic landscapes. My cousin said he would loan me his series X to see if I can get my LO running on it. I told him no because I might not want to give it back.

Lol! You probably wouldn't. I loved my One X. And it was true love. By far the best console I ever owned, and I've owned most of 'em. But... one thing to consider (and you probably already know this) is that the One X was always tricky to mod Skyrim on. Lot's of crashing. I had a large load order that ran great on the VCR model Xbox One but constantly crashed on the One X. At first, when the One X came out, it ran the LO great. But after Skyrim recieved the Xbox One X Enhanced patch--that is when the crash-fest started. It's because the One X is pushing 4K rez, 4x the pixels. That's a big ask. So even though it's far more powerful than the One or One S, those two consoles actually have more headroom for mods running at 1080p. That's one reason why I think the Series S is probably an excellent console for modding Skyrim.

@@TheAncientGamerX I did the same thing and upgraded to the 1X. I've been pulling my hair out trying to mod Skyrim ever since. I found out about the 4k patch. Is the Series X easier to mod Skyrim? In retrospect I've never had a crash free LO on the 1X. Just some crashed more than others. Ever since the November patch I can't get a playable LO. I've tried the same exact LO I was using prior to the patch. I've tried the same mods in different orders. I've tried adding mods in batches to see if I could narrow down the problem. After I reach a certain amount of mods it the crash's start.

You could, but it would probably be a waste of valuable reserve space compared to the visual benefits you might receive from it. That kind of thing is more commonly done on PC where you have no space cap to work with and can combine the mods in a more targeted way. 🎮⚔💚

Double check to make sure the mods are enabled. Next, quit the game from the dashboard--start button + quit game--then do a full restart of your console from the power options menu in settings. If that doesn't work, disable all mods and repeat the quit restart process. Load the gamme and re-enable the mods and repeat the quit restart process one more time.

Team Noble here. Skyland looks pretty good but I *hate* those Markarth textures. I don't know what they were thinking! It also affects other dwarven ruins, not just Markarth.

@@moonscout3702 - Very good! Other things I dislike about Skyland are how murky, brown and homogenous the landscapes can be in certain places. I use a combination of different mods to get the effect I like but the main landscape mod I use is Osmodius. This is after years of using, and mostly enjoying, Noble. Ultimately Noble is a huge mod and it does make everything look a little too clean. I also hate the way Windhelm looks. It's impossible to have one mod collection that gets *everything* right but Noble has come the closest, in my opinion. In the end the best way to go is to combine a bunch of smaller mods. If you pick thematically similar ones you can get the game looking as good as a 2.5GB mod with about 1 - 1.5GB, with tonnes of variety that you don't get from bloated AIO packages.

Absolutely it does. If you do find that the One X crashes (it's notorious with heavily modded Skyrim for that) then uninstall Divine People Celestial and install Divine People Celestial Lite. It's made for the One X specifically.

I did. I am aware of that. I still do pick Vanilla over Noble for Windhelm. It's the one area of the map where it's probably weakest. I sometimes make these videos semi, or full on sleep deprived. I realized after I uploaded it that I'd brain-farted, but it isn't worth it to me to pull it down and re-edit, re-render and re-upload...+ lose any views and/or momentum over that.

Here’s step 1 for noob series x modders; The mod search doesn’t work. If you enter in the name of the mod you want to find and press “search” you’ll be given a list of mods that barely relate or do not relate at all. To find the mod you want you must simply flip through them all. You will eventually find the mod you want. You will see it is spelled exactly as you entered it so you will then know that the search is busted. This is as of 06/07/22 or if you’re American 07/06/22.

I see people ragging on you for picking vanilla over noble for Windhelm, but, as you say in the video, I think it speaks to your preferences. Vanilla does a good job of capturing the run down, bad-side-of-town aesthetic for Windhelm while Noble makes it feel like a city with a clean, happy atmosphere. With that in mind, I agree with your pick. I'm on pc and have only tried Noble, but now Im considering checking out Skyland and using additional retextures for major cities in large part to the Windhelm comparison. I got the same feeling about Windhelm with Noble as you did and I would like it to capture the same feelings vanilla

The Skyland Windhelm does really look good, closer to the original character of that city. Ironically, for my new Fantasy RPG LO, I use Noble, but then, in that case, my aim for the visuals is different.

Only thing that these graphics packs do better is resolution and LOD. None of them matches the phenomenal design of the vanilla textures IMO. Same with outdoor lighting!. Just uninstall all that sh*t and check out the vanilla game, some people forgot how good it looks! They rather load lots of junk in their load order from some kids who think they can do better and "enjoy" 20 FPS, stuttering, crashes, strange design choices and just unprofessional but ... yeah ...high res graphics. Only thing for me that's really worth it is SMIM (friendly version, 2k, it's the most complete and good looking) and textures for caves, Nordic Ruins and forts. The interior stuff. Good design is not about high res textures. I have seen a lot of junk in the last weeks. Sorry for my rant. Normally I'm a nice guy.

I obviously have a lot in common with you. My first LO, and still my favorite, was Ultimate Enhanced Vanilla. Designed only to bring out the best in the base game, not change it. Also, notice I have no "150 Mod Ultimate Next Gen, etc" LO. I like the idea of getting the most out of just a few mods.

@@TheAncientGamerXDude, yeah I know that, your videos are top quality stuff and not "look how good my Skyrim looks at 10 FPS and only 10 crashes per hour - want that, too? And give me a like". In fact it was one of your videos (I think it was about your ultimate enhanced vanilla LO) who made me uninstall 50% of my mods and I was like "sh°t that looks nice. I forgot that! There ARE ... SOME really talented modders, no question, and to find the good ones is not about installing every mod with 5 stars. ELSOPA, RALLY, NORTHFIRE, to name a few who know about good design. There are more. And yeah I must say I am a FPS freak. I want 60 FPS all the fkn tiime. For me this is more "immersion" than 2k textures (which are btw. upscaled to 4K in the game - a 10 year old game whichs graphics engine was outdated even at that time).

@@hf7219 You will NEVER see an LO like that on my channel. My deal is to throw out a solid basic foundation of a few mods that work well together and cover the game pretty decent. They should function as standalone LO's but they are meant to be empty enough for each player to add to it and make it their own.

obviously you don't install any graphic mods if you can't even 60fps vanilla skyrim my dude and yeah vanilla skyrim is still good so it only makes sense to upgrade if you are not dropping below 40fps , right now I'm switching from skyland to noble to maintain 45+ fps ,in big cities my fps drops to 30 sometimes ,it's not bad but 30-60 is too much range for my eyes , I can also cap my fps at 40 or something to get used to it , idk too many options for this amazing game lol

There wasn't much of either, performance was vanilla smooth and load times remained snappy as without mods. After I rendered the video I realized watching it that some of my captures were glitched and breaking up. traced it to the external hard drive I was storing to. Probably what you are seeing was corrupted capture glitch.
