I now have a new favorite vid. Catching all the details, large and small, makes it so much fun to watch. 5:12 The A330 in the background is being pushed back at the same time. 10:04 The second B717 hasn't been repainted with the current paint scheme. 11:03 Good news, that A380 gate will be used again in the very near future. ANA has announced that they are restarting their A380 flights from Tokyo-Narita on July 1st, with twice weekly flights for now. That means the blue & jade green A380 Flying Sea Turtles will make their returns to HNL, and the newest orange bird will make its first trip to HNL sometime this year. That is good news for me because from where I am on the planet, its a few hours less flight time to get to HNL by heading east to either Japan or Korea (approx.10 hrs), then onto HNL (about 8 hrs) than it is to than flying west back to one of my home airports in the US (14-15 hrs to DFW or MCO), then another 8-9 hrs to get to HNL from there (22-23 hrs). 16:11 Pulling this from the wayback machine, but bear with me... The Simpsons had an episode appropriately titled "Fear of Flying" from season #6 that aired DEC 1994. "If word gets out about this, Krazy Klown Airlines will be a laughing stock. In exchange for your silence, I'm prepared to offer your family free tickets to anywhere in the United States. Excluding Alaska and Hawaii, the freak states." Homer gets home & tells the fam the good news. Bart yells Hawaii, & Lisa yells Alaska. When I saw that you filmed an Alaskan bird from a Hawaiian bird, my mind just jumped right to this reference from being a 30+ year fan of the Simpsons. 44:32 A small flock of french Falcons can be seen on the other side of the runway.

nice! yesterday as soon as i was boarding a plane in dfw to colombia, they ended up cancelling it due to no pilot for our flight, which was not good cuz then i had to wait in the terminal from 7pm (when the flight was cancelled) to almost midnight at 10pm for my bags and for a flight reschedule, which luckily happened.

You are correct. You have a keen ear. You can thank Hawaiian for insisting on playing copyright protected music when taxiing. Normally this isn't a huge deal, as capturing copyright protected music in the background is allowed under the "incidental use" clause of copyright protection laws. However.... The particular artist that Hawaiian plays during taxi, is dead set on no one getting any money from his music, even if it is captured incidentally. From personal experience on other Hawaiian flights I've posted, even though the music is clearly caught incidentally, he will fight you tooth and nail for months, even though he'll eventually lose the battle. So, it's just not worth my time and I loop audio over his music now.

Skylite...I believe you said that particular inter-island flight was a very popular one...hence using an A-321 which is normally a rather large craft for such a short flight, correct?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
Hawaiian has started to use their A321's on more inter-island flights, but generally yes. I mean, before Southwest started flying inter-island too, Hawaiian's 717's were the biggest thing. Back then you also had Island Air ATR's and even some CRJ's and ERJ's at some points. I've heard that Hawaiian may be looking at the A220 to possibly replace the 717's in the next few years. The A220 is probably a better aircraft for this route over an A321.

I know this is an old video from 2022, but why are a321neo’s and a330s using them for inter-island flights? Isn’t Hawaiian have there 717s already? Or is it just southwest taking it over?
@sla31 Жыл бұрын
Hawaiian occasionally uses their A321's on inter-island service. I'm not sure if it's because of demand, necessity, the match Southwest, or even for training. Hawaiian certainly has no issue filling 717's 25 times per day on HNL-OGG, so perhaps they just use the A321's for the extra capacity. Now this next part is pure speculation, but maybe it has to do with the engine issues they've been having. I guess, not so much "engine issues," but difficulty getting parts for the engines which has now caused Hawaiian to ground 4 of their A321's. Perhaps the issue wasn't critical at this point, so the aircraft could still fly, but they didn't want it going over the Pacific for 5 hours? That seems like a stretch, but I'm just trying to think of all options. Or maybe it's just easier to train A321 crews on these short flights. I looked at schedules today and it doesn't look like they have any running inter-island flights today. When I took this flight, they were actually scheduled flights, and I booked them at least a couple months in advance. So it wasn't a substitution for a 717 and I just got lucky. I also looked at a few days in the future and they're all 717's right now. We may never know haha

@@sla31sorry for the late response, but thanks for your thoughts and advice. But, I am having some theories as well.. it makes me question, why, and how. So on your LIH-HNL video, N494HA the same 717 you did use.. on but November 30th 2023, was a flight from OGG-HNL operating as HAL145 one of the ramp crew members who was pushing the 717 for its flight and the start up obviously. I think the pushback vehicle was on the left side of where it was parked. Then, the aircraft was making it’s way to taxi all of a sudden it hit the ground vehicle and hit the wing which caused some damage. then, the flight was cancelled due to what happened. You can take a look yourself of the news about it. It’s KHON2, and KITV. But anyway, leading to this, it could mean that HAL385 could be a covering for N494HA? who knows exactly. anyway, tell me your opinion and reply back please.
