This is the first time I've ever captured a reverse operations landing at LAX. I hadn't looked at the airports flow before the flight, so we were descending through the clouds and I couldn't figure out why it was taking us so long to break out. Well, when we broke out over the water, I immediately realized! I've been flying into LAX since I was a kid and this was still the only time I can remember getting this approach! Enjoy! Also, it's worth noting that the shots of the aircraft at the beginning were filmed on a different day than the actual flight. My flight before this one was delayed and I had to run from gate to gate. I barely made this flight. The gate agent closed the door and followed me down the bridge. I have so much footage from the last 10 years though, I actually had footage of this exact A350 at ATL from a previous trip. So if you notice the gate change, that's why.

Widebodies on domestic flights is not uncommon on the big 3 US carriers. These are positioning flights to get these widebodies from one hub to another, to fly international routes. This A350 going from ATL - LAX, might then be used for LAX-AKL, or to SYD.

I flew on this exact same aircraft from SYD-LAX in October last year. Was my first ever flight on the A350 and I had seat 41J. Delta was fantastic but the A350 itself has to be the best aircraft I have ever flown on. N514DN you will always have a special place in my heart as the first ever A350 I ever flew on :) Amazing footage as always :)

Excellent video, who doesn't love the A350?? I too have never arrived in reverse flow despite hundreds of flights into LAX. One observation: DL cabin cleaning leaves a lot to be desired - but this is a problem in the US in general. In the footage from 3:40-4:10, there is gunk all over the backs of the seats and especially at 4:00 it looks like nobody has ever cleaned under the display. Maybe I have been living in Asia too long, but it would be very rare here to find the seats in that condition.

Glad you enjoy it my friend. And sadly, that's what you get when all the cleaning is done by contractors for whatever the minimum wage is in that area. Hard to get people to really care much when they make $9 an hour and gas and milk are $4 a gallon. After taxes most of those people probably have to work 2 or 3 hours just to afford their lunch.

@@sla31 It's no different here (JP) or Korea or Taiwan. Many of the cleaners at HND are contractors and mainly Filipino and Vietnamese immigrants. But they have very strict training and the contractor will take away their visa sponsorship if they don't do the job up to standard.

Awesome you got to experience reverse how into LAX! I rode the A350 with Delta from LAS to ATL at the end of March 2024! It’s an awesome plane!

I was just watching Godzilla vs Mechegodzilla, and now, I'm watching your Super-Amazing video. This was one of the last of the Showa Era series films. That was a very serious fight between that one guy and the ape-like alien there. I watched that movie back in the 1970s when I had just finished high school, so I associate that movie with my HS graduation ceremony and getting ready to head off to college. Anyhow, some good views taking off from Hart. I admit that I was looking for the big superhero battle out on the airfield as your plane was taxiing to the runway, where Giant-sized Ant-Man was tearing apart the wing of that plane, and where The Vision topples the Control Tower with his power beam. Good desert views. We had beautiful sunshine on the Summer Solstice here, and I also did a 20-25 minute swim in the Sound that afternoon. Wow, those were some serious waves there, making for very challenging swimming conditions. A lot of them were literally smacking me in the face. I had to keep my mouth tightly closed so I didn't swallow a bunch of sea water (although it's a good way to get your trace minerals like nickel and iridium). Well, anyhow, I feel jet lagged from watching your video, so I'll resume with the Godzilla marathon while I rest up.

Wow! Rare indeed Bryce. Despite numerous LAX visits, I’ve only flown out East flow once and that was probably late eighties and I believe I was last out before closure due to fog.

I flew out on an American 777-300/ER later that night and they were still in reverse ops, so I have that flight coming up too.

FYI, delta is running their A350-900 twice daily between ATL and MCO all summer. The flights only like an hour each way. May be even cheaper than going LAX.

Once again, that’s incredibly rare to see this approach. I imagine it was due to inclement weather but imagine this on a crystal clear day and the view of the LA basin. Imagine if they flew in over the ocean and completely revered all the way out to ONT and turning to approach on in and the great view of DTLA one might have of the second largest city and metro!

You flew the same DL A359 - N514DN - on a flight from ATL-DTW a few years ago. IFS Ep - 533. Can't tell you how many times I've watched the final approach from that video.

Every time when i hear the A 350 depart the engines are roaring pretty loud. Inside the cabin it's rather quiet. Anyway nice aircraft.

I hold the camera by hand 99% of the time. Mounts, although nice for me, cause vibrations to be transferred to the lens of the camera, which makes the footage look warped and distorted. So, in the pursuit of only publishing, the highest quality footage possible. I filmed by hand.
