Remember to keep that rod tip down on the water and pointed at the fly while stripping, to minimize slack. Fly fishing largies is so much fun! Especially in a trophy pond. Great video!

Bro! I laughed out loud when you went "Big...big...big...biggER...not a giant...about 2". Been there done that sooo many times and will again no doubt. It's amazing how much weight they lose the closer they get! Love the content! I done a fair amount of SMB and LMB on the fly and it can get in the blood bad. You are going to catch that 5 to 10 lb any day. Right now ya just got grind it out till everything gets to be second nature. Keep that rod tip on the water and pointed at the fly. really helps with strike detection and hook set power. Again, love the content. Love your attitude bro.

Thanks for the advice! And yeah it’s always a big until you see it haha. Glad you love the content. I break my PB in our next video, so definitely tune in to that! This time it’s actually a big haha.

Glad to see you out in Charlotte! I am up in the Salsbury area, still pretty new to fly fishing but have had all kinds of fun out here! We are pretty lucky to have access to bass and a quick hop up to the mountains for trout.

If you lower your rod tip you’ll feel more of the steamer takes and probably be able to set the hook easier ;)

Hey man! As the summer gets hotter you should look into investing in some sinking fly line. It was definitely increase fish caught when they’re deep!
@SlabDynasty2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! We have some sinking line that we used for catching striper this past winter. It might be time to throw it back on the 8 wt.

Excited to see the PB catch! This vid was good too! You seem to hook up more when that cone head sinks. Might be how it falls is the key
@SlabDynasty2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it falls very slow, much like a senko.

What type of fly line you using seems like floating fly line and how many ft of leader and what weight leader and what’s ur favorite streamers for large mouth also is your friend Levi using a 8wt?
@SlabDynasty6 ай бұрын
I’m using an 8wt rod with 8wt floating line. I have about 4 feet of 16 lb fluoro leader, but I’ve since learned that shorter leaders are more effective. Levi is using a 4 wt rod for the smaller topwater poppers. My favorite streamer for largemouth is a cone head zonker in black (featured in this video).
@nottgav6 ай бұрын
@@SlabDynasty thank you so when using floating line a shorter leader is better I would think a longer one would be better to get deeper in the water

Hey bud I have a question? What’s the best sinking fly line for throwing streamers for large mouth in ponds 7wt-8wt?
@SlabDynasty Жыл бұрын
I personally use the SA frequency sink tip. As for what’s best, it really just depends on your desired sink rate. I’m certainly no expert, but any fly shop near you will have great information regarding line.

Can't go wrong with Cortlands 444 sink tip👌

Rod is an 8wt TFO TFR. 8wt orvis Clearwater floating line and I can’t quite remember what our leader/tippet setup was, but in general a 3-5ft straight mono or flouro leader works for this, you can do small sections and create a taper too if you want better turnover

Best way to fly fish for bass is a streamer on a mono rig
@springteen374310 ай бұрын
What’s more important is the setup, you didn’t mention anything about., nobody is interested and watching anybody catching fish. 🤔
