Fly Fishing an ANCIENT Flooded Forest

Nice video,. Love that lake.....used to rent a house on it every year. Very few houses on it though. That was also a long nose gar. No spotted gar in NC.

The grassy side of that lake is where the big ones live. I’ve never caught much in the cypress trees either.

We will have to check that out next time! We saw plenty of 3-4 pounders in the cypress trees. They just wouldn’t take a fly.

If this is lake Waccamaw it's definitely on my bucket list of lakes in North Carolina.. pumped for the video can't wait till I can by myself fly fishing setup.... Did you guys run into any gators?

We threw quite a few different rods that day but most fish were caught on either a 5 or 7 wt with forward weighted floating line. The really pretty set up is the TFO NTR reel on. A TFO axiom rod 5 wt with RIO floating line.
