Slade we're great......this and " Gud bye to Jane" were songs we covered in my first band at school!!! God that makes me feel old......but the chord sequences and timing made this tough to play.....a.great rock song from a really great Rock band.....good pick guys👏👏👏

Released May 1972, charting at number 1 in the UK. There is a colour vid , probably from LWT's 2G's and the Pop People show where there are 4 dancers each dressed like each member of the band

Another cool rockin' song by the wonderful Slade ! .. They had such a classic mixture of great songs, great musicianship, and a huge sense of fun .. Makes you feel good, and for me, quite nostalgic .. Glad you enjoyed it, and particularly Cynthia, who really zoned into their fun vibe.

The guy with the wiggly bum and shiny suit is Dave Hill who was the fashionista of the band.
@billsager5634Күн бұрын
Fun Fact! "That" guitarist is Dave Hill. Both Slade and Sweet were considered "glam rock" bands, and Dave Hill (guitarist, Slade) and Steve Priest (bassist, Sweet) had a friendly rivalry of whom could glam it up more. From roughly 1972-1975. both Hill and Priest wore more creative costumes. Dave Hill eventually "won" the friendly competition with his "metallic nun" outfit. Both Slade and Sweet were amazing, and severely underrated bands (at least here in the US). Very happy to see someone give Slade some attention.

You sometimes forget how hard they could rock - loads of great R n R licks that clearly influenced later bands like Oasis . Wiggly guy is the much parodied Dave Hill ( who I believe might still be going ) who whenever I see him I automatically default to the inimitable portrayal of him by the hilarious Bob Mortimer in the iconic sketches ‘Slade at home ‘ 😆 👍🏴

Slade we're at the top during the glam rock period in the UK, 1971 to 1974. Though they could be fun they weren't a novelty band. They could really rock. Check out Far Far Away and How Does It Feel which are more of a ballad feel. Excellent songs.

I liked Slade but was more a fan of T.Rex and The Sweet but you had to keep it quiet at school as they were seen as iffeminate and too poppy, the brainy kids liked Yes and Genesis...and probably read Lord of the rings. This is probably my favourite Slade song, great video too . Mama we're all crazee now was great too

You can't get much more effeminate than Dave Hill! He was as camp as a row of tents. Bolan was far "butcher" for all his glam & campness 😁

I think in 1972 there were some bits (certainly on ITV) that went out in Black and White because of a strike by colour technicians. This might be the situation here, though it could also be in Black and White for artistic merit.
@normandavidtidiman9918Күн бұрын
Mostly, it was in the late 60s with those strikes when colour first came in on Independent TV in England. However,I'm sure this is a European TV show. ITV wasn't broadcasting anything that resembled BBC's TOTP in that period. Also accounts for the b&w IMO (certainly NOT for artistic reasons).

Im guessing this was a European show,and either they were still broadcasting in b&w, or the colour tape has been lost. Not keen on the camera and editing work either. Performance was okay,although obviously miming to a backing track.
