Honestly in some ways they’re doing better. Axl smiles, and actually makes it on time for a full show. Duff is all buff now. Slash just loves to play.

Being an Englishman, it always warms my Anglo heart to know how our tiny little islands have produced some of the greatest musicians of all time. Brian johnson, slash, the Beatles, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, the list is a long one, and makes us very very proud of them all.

ISlash is a favorite of mine.He plays so well ,lyric phrasing is where he shows his ability. He can play fast, and does his fast stuff at the end of a solo,a climax to show he can when he wants to.

One of my first rock memories was going to see GNR and Metallica with Faith No More at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto, it was the first show they did after the Montreal riot. In the beginning I didn’t really get into GNR but as time past and my guitar chops got better my love of the music grew. Now, I feel very privileged to have seen GNR live, but more so to have seen Slash live. His style, abilities, and his mojo on stage is second to none, I just wish I could have an hour to jam with him. (Yes that’s me in the picture, and yes I play a Les Paul)

I am born and raised in Los Angeles graduated high school in '83 from Westchester High School at the beach on Wesrside of L.A. . I was pretty deep in the music scene in L.A. but not the big hair, glam, spandex scene. I was into Punk and alternative. One of my best friends since kindergarten was Slash's personal assistant for 13 years until Slash married Perla. Perla didnt like that Slash's personal assistant was female and that she knew Slash better than Perla did and that Slash depended on Barbie for so many years. the two women didnt like each other so that was the end of her being the personal assistant. GnR were a decent band but Jane's Addiction was better, so is Tool, if you want to talk about L.A. bands in the late '80s

People you don’t know and have not been there for you have a right to their opinions but no right to take up any space in your psyche. Especially people trying to “help” you by “avoiding failure”. As long as there’s a song in your heart and you enjoy coaxing it out, you are successful at music.

This is cool but the words are completely out of sync by what is on the video. It's hard to block out man. Really. "They got along like a pack of well acquainted gutter rats." So, despite Axl insulting Slash' grandmother they gelled. I red Slash + Duff's biography's but not Axel's because he was such a dick. I mean, the Montreal gig with Metallica? That was axel and the guys let him walk all over them contractually. Their chaos, in some ways was their magic but axel isolated and abused their brotherhood. I'm shocked they got back together so many years later. But axel did good when he filled in for AC/DC so....that's rock and roll. Slash and his heart? Lucky to still be here as much as anyone.

Yeah, well, coming from dysfunctional family where chaos, alcohol addiction, and general rnfless chaos and upgeaval was th e norm, radio, music and ctrativity and th we desire to escape this home hell snd be finally free to be becone driving forces putting us on a certain inevitable life course which may not be what we had dreamed of, but have tp somehow find a way to live with it. More chaos, mote addictions to try to copr with it all, more disruptions, stress, upheavals... When a we wanted was peaceful, harmonioys, secure, stable happy life, like everybody else takes as a given right. But, so.mewhere among all this shaos and insamity of dys functional family woll be parents who once loved each other enough to produce this new human they had high hopes for and tried to raise right, according to their own oftend unconventional or non conformi g udea of 'right behaviour'. Be it crazy religion, peculiar ides of certain social classes eg the great unwashed underdogs, or some foreign ethnicity etc. From these initial goid intentions such bad parents who tried to be good parents had, a confused adult child can usually find a few useful guiding principles to live life by. I was supp I sed to be a princess, only precioys daughter, fkoat around li k e some kind of spirit, never trying to grab attention because princess ladies never act so braxen, bold etc. They are modest, humble, quiet, respectful, honourable, polite, high standards of morality, kind and caring, beautiful etc, read the Bible, pray to be a better human, go to church, sing in th e choir etc. Sick, even abusive as some of this stuff in our upbringing may dound abd it often really fid amount to child abuse, it also saved us from worse strife in adult lives. A lot depends on how you look back on it all. I hated many things about my early life at home I left at age 13 and never went back to. But the very things I had rebelled against, rejected, are what emabled me to safely navigate such a dangerous life course for a vulnerable 13 year old girl aline in a big dangetous wider world eg certain motal principke derived from religious upbringing, with my re b el very intelligent though often drunken, pretty extreme bipplar father questioning alm the religion and assorted other dpiritualist hocus pocus my mother was into sometimes. I hated all the 'child exploitation ie hard physical farm work, even our High School logo at one school inculcated into us, in Latin, about being what you really are, not what you think you are. Ie a good reality check to avoid kids getting delusion of grandeur re their own imagined self importance. At snother HS I attented, the logo feature maize crops in bloom, bearing fruit and a Latin saying we all hated, about doing hard eork cheerfully, as we often had to tise at dawn to do hard physical farm chores, gefore walking country miles to catch the school bus, do a few hundred miles to get to school, often having to get out andcsll push the bus to get through flood waters etc, then repeat after school ir more farm chores, exhausting travel etc, arriving home by moonlight. Next day, get up, repeat. Sunsay was supp I sed to be day of rest but there was church, family, distances to travel, housework, that was exhausting, taking up all day. But one learned the value of work, disciplibe, respect, community, faith etc. Useful in adult life for survival, avoiding trouble.
