Hi Noel! Congrats for the amazing work. I’m 179 cm / 77/78 kg. Broke my Cymatic 5’7 31lt that I loved and struggle to replace it. I have possibility to buy a dominator 2 - 5’9 - 31.5 lt or a flat earth 5’10 - 33.4 lt. Really curious about the last one because I’m a big fun of twin fins and try to surf this kind of shape 2+1 is tempting me a lot. In the past I surfed a cc fish and a lane splitter 5’7 (loved it exept in the back side that was difficult to manage). My sweet spot is around 31 liters so for what I understand 5’10 in 33 liters would be good. I tried a seaside 5’7 in the past that is almost same liters just a bit more and it felt good in the water but a bit big out of it for me but I imagine it surf very different from the FE. Thank you and cheers from Italy

Amazing detailed review. Thanks. I saw that board on sale at my lbs and still deciding since I have no experience with twin but you help me for sure. Looking for an all around board to compliment my lost puddle jumper type of small wave board in the PNW. You think the lost seaworthy quad front fins will work well on it? Want to keep my volume the same as my small waves board for easy paddling but want more perfomance.

I have to agree that your surfing looked better on the 5'7 with more volume. On the smaller boards you had to stay above the board in your turns but on the 5'7 you could lay into it and push harder without blowing out the tail. Great review and it's too bad they no longer carry this model for Slater Designs but if I find one out there I'll make sure to get one that's 34L as opposed to 32-33.5 that I usually ride.

Noel, you were effortlessly throwing buckets on that 5’7!!! You were lighting it way up!!!Stoked you put some footage of you, on some smaller surf. Cocoa Beach is famous for smaller conditions. @@surfnshowreviews7777 I worked at HS in Mona Vale, Australia, CNCing boards for just over a year. Even remember one for you (if I’m talking to Mr. Noel Salas). I routed in some fins one time but know little about how positioning affects the ride. I can imagine how important it is, and always been interested in fin placement! So I guess it’s a compromise! Hey Noel, cheers for all the great content. I'm agonizing over volume decision on this. If you ride boards that are over volumed by a couple of litres (compared to a pro) already could you view this board as an opportunity to surf the correct size for your weight rather than seeking to up size by a couple of litres regardless? I guess the answer will depend on whether you feel you should upsize as it is harder to paddle at your normal volume. Thanks.

Okay guys here’s the final verdict: once you put in that twinnie wether it’s keel or not you can really feel the board going next level and know that your utilizing the board for what it was designed for. The fcs2 Machado keels were drivey and responsive however because of all that area in the fin you have to adjust to it but if you’re patient in exchange the board will show you good flow and technique in a high performance short board package 📦

The only think off with this board that I haven't seen you do with other boards was on your front side bottom turn to snap your seemed to be vaulting your yourself, really bending at the waist and swinigng your arms up to get more momentum vs just bending your knees and getting drive. Was that because of conditions? Were you tired? Was it the board? Or a combination of some or all of them?

I’m having no issues sliding out (jumped up just under 6L...) the bigger you get it the more forgiving it’s going to be, doesn’t seem like it’s sacrificing much performance but I haven’t surfed a smaller one yet.. I think the first thing you’ll notice is how much more time you have to read the wave.. rarely need to pump it so you can just relax and draw out your bottom turns a bit more, definitely feels like you’re cheating😉

Fishbeard is a true Twinny…. It’s faster down the line, grovels better and with my HP Twins it offers excellent performance in the pocket. The FE surfs more like a HPSB with the right Twin+ Trailer fin set up. It pivots quickly and surfs more like a Thruster in 2-6’ surf. The FE needs a bit of push from a wave to be in its element and if you want to surf it purely as a Twin you need to size up at least 1L or else it’s hard to control
