Slovena is apparently a city girl and doesn't know this but "machka" is the dialect word for cat in Bulgaria. I don't know if that's the word used in all rural areas, but it's definitely the one used in the northwestern part of the country.

In Bulgarian for saying “leg” it’s Krak but it’s also “Noga” in old Bulgarian.

Great work 👍👍👍. I lke what you do. I can understand more than 60% of other Slavic languages. I think if you put a grup of different Slavic people in a room after a short time we can understand eachother very well

I loved the video. 👍🏼 But you got the deer thing completely mixed up. At least in Slovenian (and according to Wikipedia it's the same in Serbian 🙂). 'Srna' and 'jelen' belong to two different species: 'srna/srnjak' is one and 'košuta/jelen' is the other one. I want to see more.

In Russian we have many not obvious similarities with Bulgarian. We basically say noga for leg, but there is a root korok or karak in some words with the initial meaning of a leg or a limb. For example okorok - 'ham' - which means a meaty animal's leg (specifically chicken's). Karakatitsa is a type of molluscs, a cuttlefish, the rough translation of the word would be 'with many limbs'. And also karachki, a pose in which the human body has both arms and both legs in its support. The second thing i wanna say that in russian language we have a similar word for bear - Mishka which means a teddy-bear, a bear cub. Originally it used to be Meshka, but during the time this word has mixed with the diminutive form of the name Mikhail. So Mishka, Mikhail, Mikhail Potapych are the traditional Russian nicknames for the bear, under which the animal appears in many Russian folktales. Of course the most common and scientific term is Medved.

Greetings from Poland. For me Slovak was very easy to guess. The most difficult was bulgarian for me.

Actually there is a distinction in BG as well between extinction by way of hunting/poaching and dying out. We say “избити/изтребени” (izbiti/iztrebeni, adjective) for the case of when hunting caused the extinction. However, we say “измрели” (izmreli, adjective) for when the species died out. I think that’s quite similar to Slovak and Slovene.

je to úžasné poslouchat každý slovanský jazyk pokud tomu rozumíte bez překladače ale většinou je potřeba použít překladač protože jsou tam slova kterým nerozumím ale je očividný že mnoho slov je s námi podobných :D

Hi, Polish here. We use las (but w lesie) for Forest and góra for mountain. This whole confusion of les and gora is said to come from the fact that mountains and forests in many regions of south europe like balkans or carpathians come together. I mean youve got fields not forests in plain areas than otherwise. Btw, in a very very old Polish weve got gozd 'forest', so there are name places like Gózd, Gozdowo, etc.
