I remember when my car wouldn't start.....needed a jump. Because I was wearing a Slayer t-shirt and a couple of metal-heads saw it.....they were not only kind enough to give a jump start, but took me to a nearby service station for an assist (place was closed) while one of them stayed with my female friend for company. I gotta admit.....Slayer saves us all. Tom Araya,.......definitely a nice guy (even though I hadn't met the guy).

This is awesome. It just goes to show how much even Tom Araya is so humbled by Slayer fans. They may not make the most money (probably the least out of the Big Four), but it's moments like this that make me proud to be a devout Slayer fan myself. Some of their fans definitely are somewhat crazy, but that's not all of us. And to think, Tom started off playing a broom in the mirror back in Chile and now he's been one of the greatest frontmen in history (at least in my opinion).

Slayer did something very nice for me around 1991, maybe??? I'm old. They came to the Lakeland Civic Center and decided to record some of their setlist for their "Decade of Aggression" live double CD release. Just before the show started, someone took a pic in the front and center of the crowd...and I am almost in the dead center of the first 2 page pic. You can notice me because I had a cast on my right wrist and was holding it above he crowd at the time. Within 10 minutes or so, the cast, due to sweat and a floor-wide mosh pit, was ripped off of my wrist. Cool story, I guess. I'll never forget when I went to buy the double CD and the guy that worked at Peaches Records & Tapes yelled, "Chris, you are in the very first pic of the booklet" as I bought it the day it was released and my buddy had seen the booklet before me. I hung out with Chuck Schuldiner for years and never got inside any Death albums...and I've seen Death 15 times. RIP Chuck and Jeff.
