This final scene is so touching. Seeing the young Elizabeth as a princess in the ATS uniform, Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and the allusion to the Land Rover which on the coffin of Prince Philip has been placed at his funeral in 2021 made me cry like a baby. RIP Prince Philip (10th June 1921- 9th April 2021) RIP Queen Elizabeth II (21th April 1926- 8th September 2022)

When I first saw this scene I actually saw it on KZbin. Long after I stooped watching the crown, lost interest but this showed up in my suggested lists. Someone has the title marked queen Elizabeth dies in the crown and I thought it was the queen mum they were referring too. So for a few seconds I was slightly confused at why she was alone in the chapel wearing white and the casket kept disappearing in some shots........then the young Elizabeth came around and saluted her. Can I tell you my my Adam's apple slammed into my sinuses and I was mess realizing what this represented. So perfectly stoic, simple and incredibly honorable. This was Queen Elizabeth II.

Brilliantly writen. For me the sleep deary sleep bagpipes and orchestra is what made it emotional touch and seing her younger self soluting her for her duty, prince phillip saying "say one for me" a prayer indicating he will be gone before her, the long walk to the doors can be seen as the gates to heaven, i dont think anyone would be left demanding a season 7 as it encapsulated key elements, her mums death, her sisters, her husbands, hoe charles will take the throne with camilla, how william met kate middleton in a serious relationship it covers some of harrys innapropiate conduct and didnt need to vive into him giving up his royal ties or the negative press the show clearly wanted to mark some respect in her death by setting an imaginary scene of whats to come for her

I think the long shot is brilliant. The queen getting smaller with the passage of time but the building still standing strong is such a powerful image of what the monarchy should aspire to be: a symbol of continuity. That’s my personal interpretation. They had probably only one camera to redo a shot or something prosaic like that. :)

I reject monarchy as a system and even I loved this scene.
@CosmicTeapot4 ай бұрын
There's no need to accept it as a system, just as a symbolic institution. I'm a staunch atheist and I truly deeply hope that the UK never loses its constitutional monarchy. It's a living, breathing museum encapsulating the very essence of British culture and history. When I look at the palaces and all the pomp and pageantry, I don't see privilege, I see only the best that a nation can build and accomplish - and there's much to be proud about.

It was a great finally. But felt kinda rushed and that they could've got one more season to fully show everything up to her passing. But still a good episode and loved the internal dialogue she had with past versions of herself... loved seeing the other actresses get to come back in that regard for a send-off.
