Do the 3126 next. I can’t sleep knowing I’ll have to clean up an oil spill from a Detroit 😂

🤣🤣🤣 I promise you that this video won't leave an oil leak! Good thought on the 3126. My old RV hasn't been picked up by the new owner yet. I may be able to get a recording of that to make a video before it leaves my property.

Totally outstanding editing. I will run this in my shop sound system while woodworking and or reloading or just kiking back drinking beer and watching NASCAR. thanks for sharing.

Yeah I wish you had one from the 3126

I'll put it on the list of videos to do and try to get one made before my old RV goes to its new owner. Thanks for the suggestion!

I feel so bad for the engine. Going down the road backwards must be strange

How much fuel do you think this used?
@TedsGarage9 ай бұрын
Just to clarify, I didn't actually idle my engine for 10 hours. The actual idle time was about 5 minutes while I was letting the engine warm up a bit and air up before pulling it out of the shop. I then edited a segment of that running and repeated it that was timed so that the sound appears continuous for the entire 10 hours. I tried to make sure that no blips or aural changes could be noticed, but if you look carefully you'll see in the video where the ride height will change slightly. However, I can try answer your question on a theoretical basis, as the dashboard does show fuel flow at idle. At cold start idle is around 1.0-1.2 GPH, and at high idle it's around 1.5-1.7. This is with the engine and oil cold. Once it warms up, normal idle is around 0.5 GPH and high idle is around 0.8-1.0 GPH. So for high idle, it would be something on the order of 8-10 gallons total over the 10 hours. For normal idle, around 5-6 gallons. Interestingly, these fuel flows aren't much different from the 6.7L Cummins in my Ram or the Cat 3126B in my previous RV at idle. But this is also why you're better off running some kind of stand-alone generator/heater, it will be far more efficient and burn far less fuel than idling this big engine.

LOL, How many loops of footage did you put together to make 10 hours worth?
@TedsGarage9 ай бұрын
Let's see... 20-30 seconds, carry the 2... about 1200-1800 loops. 😀
