SLEEPER Miata Shocks 600hp Z06! [STREETS]

At our stop in Nashville we hopped into a 600hp Heads/Cam Z06 after a random Miata asked to street race at a meet, not knowing much about the car other than the intercooler we noticed we went out to see what the car had... The results were crazy! This thing was SCREAMING down the highway surprising everyone who witnessed the race. Returning back to the meet we all found out exactly why this car was so damn FAST!
The 5.3L LSx under the hood boosted by a rear mount 78mm Turbo puts down mid 600whp on LOW BOOST, the car was turned up as much as it could be without completely blowing off the non-radial 225 (narrow) STREET TIRES (around 700whp) equipped with a 4L80 transmission, once this street beast spools you better hold on!!!

No shit lol the engine swaps one can do in a miata... There are everything from 4's, 6's, 8's, 10's and 12 cyls being swapped into this car. The car is an almost perfect platform and that is why it not only holds a world record for the best selling two seater sports car but has earned the respect of many in the car world. This conversion is popular but it started out using ford 5.0's then the aluminium block of the ls3 gave people the ability to maintain the cars 50/50 weight distribution making it a no fab needed direct drop v8 in a miata that not only has over 450 hp but handles like a go kart on rails. Now onto my question, what was funny about what I said? or was it the fact you thought I didn't know it was powered by a chevy motor that is also packing a beautiful rear mounted turbo setup. Go look at what the engine is made of and you will see why, but seriously you cannot talk trash on this car lol it has a massive following for a reason and nobody cares what someone with less car knowledge than the common car meet honda boy thinks about it lol this car truly is a gift to the car world lol its handling capability is one of the main reasons and its what you can do to the car that you cant to others right out of the box that sets this car aside from all others, then you have the following and what that inspired perfected this car, the engine swaps started out crude but were refined then they expanded and now miatas have the ability to compete in many areas of the car world, and they have. Spoiler alert, they shocked many with the capability and range of performance you can get out of these cars. Even stock the car is amazing to mod, all on a stock engine you can daily drive up to 16psi on a boosted setup and safely run up to 300hp at the crank. Some of my favorite swaps even though some are less effective than others are the 2jz-gte, k20a2, f20c, 1uz-fe, mazdas k series v6 and the sbc 350 swap. Missing a few swaps but the evidence is clear lol Comparing cars I'm not seeing a transam being very useful in any real racing and saying going really fast in a straight line is racing is like saying nascar is a real sport.

How to Brake Boost. 1. Go to the best gear for whatever mph you are gonna race from 2. While still on the gas gently press the brake pedal, you'll want to press it hard enough that it starts slowing you down. But to keep from slowing down you apply more throttle. 3. The harder you ride your brakes the more load you put on your engine. the more load you put on your engine the more boost you will build. (keep an eye on your gauge) 4. And as soon as you are ready to start go WOT and at the same time release the brakes, and that lovely sensation of boost is already there waiting for you rather than you waiting for it. The key is to find just the right amount of pressure to apply on each pedal but that becomes very easy with a little practice.

Love how these racers all just gather around and shoot the breeze, ask to the point questions and are appreciative of the other guy's efforts and work. That Miata with that little of a tire, it makes total sense for owner to run a 4L80 automatic transmission, that thing is a handful with that much power on a 225 section tire, a manual would just spin tires like crazy and eat clutches. That's the only shame on small, lightweight cars, usually there's limited space for a decent sized tire when the power goes way up, Although on the open road from a roll, watch out!

Miatas are not death traps dumbass. Miatas have the lowest rollover rate, the fatality risk of miatas was measured at 38 in multi-vehicle collisions and 47 in single-vehicle collisions. Both of which were way below average. Many people drive their miatas when its snowing or raining and their "ass end" doesn't whip out. You just suck at driving. That doesnt make them death traps.
