Yes, mine was the 7 of us on the back deck of my friends bar in the summer of 2013. Brett ended his life St. Patrick’s Day of ‘14, Brad married and basically disappeared. Lincoln overdosed two years ago. That night though we drank and smoked and joked till 4 AM. That was my “eternal night!”

For me, the ending where they're all dancing brings a tear to my eye. They were innocent boys who were having fun while dancing!!! The fact that those innocent moments were taken away from them so quickly, by men who felt it was their right to rape them. It makes me so angry that people like that exist in the world!

This is a very sweet but bitter ending. What I particularly loved was that although Tommy and John did become hardened career-criminals and stone-cold murderers, here we see them become kids again enjoying a good time with their childhood friends. For a moment we look at their genuine happiness, and see that they are not inherently bad people. Had their innocence not taken from them the way it did, they would still be doing better in life now. But thats not how their epilouges would end. They would die gruesome deaths eventually, still we cant help but be happy that they at least got to celebrate this moment with the only family they really have

I remember this movie. I enjoyed it. I don’t think the meaning of the movie is about the importance of friendship but more about the cost of revenge. I’m a man and was raped by a man at 16. I am in therapy right now trying to resolve the pain of a lot of things. I would be lying if I said hate and rage aren’t things that I talk about with my therapist. Hate was starting to twist and distort me. You start to become disgusted by the smiles of others as you want to feel happiness again. I just think it’s best to leave judgment and revenge up to someone or something else. It is true that violence just tends to beget more violence. It was hatred that distorted the man who raped me.

The fact that we know have uncovered massive molestation and rape accounts from the Catholic church in nearly ever city in the country, the boy scouts have been found to have helped protect molesters and fro such has helped in the molestation of millions of children and all the schools like pen state, athletic teams and etc were we keep finding abuse and rape scandals to me is proof that this shit is rampant in all institutions because of the nature of authority over others and that of course there would be no records, there would be no evidence and of course the people in these organizations would say “it never happened and doesn’t happen” while we have found them to have covered up and protected molesters and events like this.

@@tedbailey3673 Totally different movie. It was some ridiculous horror move. This movie tugs on your emotions big time, it's very very deep and sad story. I would never even think to mention them together. These boys couldn't really fight their trauma successfully, and it ultimately killed John and Tommy in very horrible ways after leading very horrible lives. Michael wasn't able to be with a women, as he was so guarded, despite loving Carol and Carol loving him, and it sounds like he lived like that the rest of his life. So sad the kind of trauma these boys dealt with. The happiest part of the move was them killing Sean at the bar, and seeing them together at the end was happy as well..
@tedbailey3673
@tedbailey3673 Жыл бұрын
Idk, IT was allegorical about fragile adult defense mechanisms around childhood trauma such as loss of a sibling and also the important unofficial, informal, and often overlooked and undervalued ways that kids help each other come to grips with the traumas they experience. Really well decloped characters and relationships (whereas Sleepers has the characters largely pretending they don't know each other so their relationships are left offscreen and unexplored) leading to fairly weak use (and nonexploration) of trauma, baked in just to kickstart a poor man's Count of Monte Christo revenge pic.

My grandparents grew up in Hell’s Kitchen. My grandma’s little brother was put in a home after their parents died. My grandma was 14 and she married my grandpa in order to get her brothers out of an orphanage. Her brother Bobby was a tough bastard. He had to fight every night to eat dinner in that place. Later on the whole family moved out to Long Island.

A film that exposes our traumas as young boys. It's hard for us to talk about our traumas when we grow up to be Men. This story is all too familiar

Carol’s son it’s from Reilly? I’m not a smart man...just watched the movie and came here to see comments and to cry again! Agree with ones who says it’s an underrated movie! I’m on the flow of old movies...best scripts, maybe new movies has better sound or image but best scripts comes from 90’s
