This was awesome !! Sleight of hand is juggling, not magic. It is an amazing skill and a beautiful art form. If someone looks at it and sees something mystical then I am a little saddened by it. We know, that you are manipulating the cards so there is nothing wrong with knowing how you do it. Being able to slow it down to see the true juggling is far more impressive. I took forever learning to juggle like you took forever to do the sleights that you do. It’s not like some simple card trick that you can pick up in a few minutes. Chris, being able to slow it down yourself, helps you improve your craft. And being able to pat yourself on your back for a well done trick is rewarding in itself. Thank you for your skills they are amazing!!

Beyond learning a few coin tricks here and there and briefly studying the theory of magic, I'm hardly a performer 😁 but I felt I should question your perspective. i was reading the Harlan Tarbell course some time ago and, from what I remember, it really emphasized on the patter and how magic must be kept as something of wonder, at least in the eyes of the spectator. Don't you think that if more people start seeing sleight of hand as just manual dexterity, the "magic" of it will eventually disappear? (no pun intended)
@srinitaaigaura5 жыл бұрын
@@nattybynature1262 Everyone logically knows that it is sleight of hand already, but our body and emotions work differently. They don't think, they merely perceive. That's where the magic effect comes from.

Doesn't matter how's its done. It's the yrs and yrs of sleight of hand skill and performance that blows me away. You see magicians on Penn teller fool us, fool them with no skill that anyone can do and upclose sleight of hand rarely fools them, but is awe inspiring. This is the magic I can watch all day. Making a plane disappear or walking through a wall is whatever. I can do that, this I can't. You're incredible dawg.

Have watched a few of your videos lately and finally subscribed on this one. I am not a magician, but love watching close-up magic. We know how he's doing what he's doing, the marvel is that he put in all the time and practice to be able to do it better than we ever could. Love the videos, love your love for the culture of magic, and look forward to seeing more great content from you.

I'm doing it again because I want to be magical for my grandkids so this time round (it's been years) I've got KZbin as a learning platform. The ability to see what's going on is in my mind at least a very positive thing. I film myself and slow down the motion so I can see where and how I can improve. As a result of having great teachers (like you BTW, CR) and the ability to evaluate not only my own proficiency but that of those that do the slights properly, I've improved 500% over my former ability in a very short time. You're a great teacher BTW, I've seen MANY and I think you're brave to do a video like this and it shows great integrity as well.

Brother, I watched David Blain do things with cards and knew it was about serious slight of hand, and doing magic card tricks for my friends, they were amazed. But I sucked. I was sloppy. I figured some things out and snap! You showed me how it was done. I snapped a card change and palmed and changed it back. Barely pulled it off. But, it’s about skill. Practice. Card control. Thank you for showing how it’s done. My friends think I’m magic. My hands are fast. I practiced for hours. Still, I’m no where near your skill. I fuck up a lot. This would be very helpful as I'm going to be getting one of my biggest gigs in a few weeks. I would buy if I had a way to shop online but as a teenager I don't. Any and all help is appreciated.
