Hey David, new to your channel. I’m debating getting the R3 to do a mix of video and photography. I’m curious if you feel the R3 video AF is jumpy and how you fixed this, or is it only photography you do? Curious on the reasons you would pickup an R3 in 2024?

Hey! The R3 honestly is a workhorse its my main camera, the autofocus isn’t too bad there are times when it decides to go off focus for some reasons. Usually happens in lower light situations or less contrasty spots. I feel like the R3 is still an amazing camera especially because the R1 isn’t too much of upgrades. The R3 still performs well and if the R1 releases I bet the R3 prices will drop a lot. Easy pick up and a great cam

Same here I have been doing photography since 2018 shooting Canon ever since and I have thought of switching to sony but after shooting a couple of them I never actually enjoyed it, I have big hands and the sony cameras are too small and I am always hitting the lens with my fingers! Im definitely getting the R5C soon specially bc the prices are a bit lower now! ❤

I own the R5C you would be surprised the I.S. from the Lens and the electric I.S. in camera gets you great stability!

DIgital IBIS gets wonky sometimes in lower apertures! So I try to avoid it if I can

The R5C doesn’t have IBIS so that canon wobble isn’t a problem. Honestly I don’t do a lot of quick movements when I do I haven’t experienced the canon wobble. I’ve heard on a gimbal you want to use one or the other.

On gimbal I turn off all stabilization unless true sensor mechanical. But I’ve had really bad wobble when shooting at 50/85 with digital IS at weddings, so I try to stay away. Its only had on shallow dop
