Depends on the season. Early in the fall birds are better, eating primarily blueberries. As the season goes on they taste more like spruce trees and hares get better as they eat the sugary bark of birch and cotton wood.

Latex varies a bit, depending on temp. But most of the season I like .7 latex at a 25-20 taper and 11 mm steel. Always 11 mm steel.

I would not spend the money. Any forked stick with flat bands will function better than a heavy, cold metal slingshot with bead attached tubes and a grossly oversized pouch. Go to simple-shot.com and get a couple hunting band sets and go whittle up a forked branch.

Any forked branch will be reliable. Using an oversized fork to carve from is what makes my slingshots sturdy and safe. I have been shooting for about 6 years now, so that I can reliably hit the target
