I watched this video yesterday since I was going fishing today. I tried it out using the different bobber stops I had on my poles and it worked great with all of the different bobber stops!! It took a little practice to hold/push down the bobber stops on the spool and wind the line a couple of turns but after doing all day I got it down. Thanks so much Matt for this tip. I wish I would have learned it 50 years ago!!

Thank you Scott for coming back and leaving a comment. Good stuff right!! I personally couldn't believe I figured it out on the water. I just got to thinking. There has to be a way to stop fighting this bobber stop and be able to cast smoothly. I remember thinking, "I got it". Tried it and awwwwww!

If your favorite bobber stop is the rubber ones, then I know folks will appreciate this tip. I use the string and bead and never have the issue your talking about. Also, IMO it is very important to choose a rod with larger guides, and not the stainless-steel kind. Thanks for all you do. Great channel.

When I use the yarn tie type of bobber stop, I don't have to do anything but reel up. I learned long ago to keep it simple so you can focus on fishing.

@WiredforCrappie sure thing. I actually have one tied up and I'll try to remember to grab it in the morning....I'm going out with the little one for some planer board action in White's Creek and I'll give it a try before or after. I'm looking forward to being able to cast better with that slip bobber not suddenly stopping 20 feet short of the target and shooting my dang minnow off into space.

My issue w the rubber bead type is not casting. It’s when I’m reeling my line in and the rubber bead gets caught up on my smallest line guide at the end of my rod. Any tips on this? All my panfish poles have small line guides at the top so I have this issue w all my panfish rods.
