Good information, thanks I see how the big sinker will make life easier.

Hey Dan. So what would determine the size of slip bobber you use?

Could you make a video on how to work (twitching) a slip bobber with a plastic bait?
@justinvasquez4524 Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I would like to see
@06nemox Жыл бұрын
Just visualize what you’re doing to your bait below the water. You know where the bobber stop is. You can definitely estimate the action you’re causing with each shake of your pole. With plastic swim baits like curly tail grubs, you get action with 6” or more of continuous movement in the water, so if you want to make your grub dance, reel it in like a foot. If you just want your bait to dance, jig it like you are fishing straight down with quick jerks or slower pulls. This is not hard to figure out yourself if your brain is in the right place.

Further, successful techniques always vary day to day and species to species. Try what you think will work best first, and go through a progression of action making techniques.

problem with slip bobbers sometimes is you get negative bites and with the sinker somewhere between the bobber and hook or bait you wont get any strike indication on the bobber that is why i opt for using jig heads with no added sinkers that way when the fish takes the bait in a negative or neutral bit your bobber goes horizontal indicating a bite, most of the time you getting positive bites but it depends on the fish and the conditions
@06nemox Жыл бұрын
That’s weird and untrue unless you’re using the wrong size sinker
@ARCSTREAMS Жыл бұрын
@@06nemox not sure why you believe so but so long as the sinker size or weight is keeping your bobber vertical and if the sinker is placed somewhere between the bobber and the hook or bait and usually any sinker on the line is several inches up from the hook or bait so in the case of a negative bite the sinker may not be moving from position thus no strike indication on the bobber , happens a lot to me when sight or vertical fishing off a pier and i see the fish swallow the bait without moving both sinker or bobber yet when i use a jig head only the weight of the jig is keeping the bobber vertical thus once the fish takes it in its mouth there is no more weight on the floater which ends up floating sideways indicating a negative bite
@06nemox Жыл бұрын
@@ARCSTREAMS honestly I’m just that good but the method you describe makes it easier. Something always happens when a negative bite occurs. It never sits perfectly still. Here in MN you only get one pole so it’s in your hand most of the time. Anything funny and set the hook, sometimes nothing, sometimes you get surprised by a 14” crappie
@ARCSTREAMS Жыл бұрын
@@06nemox well you explain to me then in the way i described it with my setup how its possible to see anything happening? the line does not move neither does the bobber, only way i know there is a fish is because i see it took the bait and stay there quietly and only when i use a jig head i see the floater going sideways so from one exp to another it's different
@06nemox Жыл бұрын
@@ARCSTREAMS na there had to be some action, even a slight angle change of the line in the water, extending from the bobber. Look your method works, but isn’t necessary for all. Good luck out there

If you use the kind of slip float without lead attached to it, the slip float will lay flat when the fish comes up with the bait in its mouth.
@nickga20502 жыл бұрын
But the fish would have to come all the way up and past the split shot for the bobber to lay down for the negative bite
@MegaTechno20002 жыл бұрын
@@nickga2050 Yes, if the shot is 12 in. above your bait, the fish would have to move up over 12 in. to take the weight off the float to make it lay flat. If just using a jig it would happen immediately.
