Found some floats guys. They are sold out in most places. These guys are charging a little much for them, but it shows they have 38. Matt, Rod-N-Bobb's has had that style bobber for a little while now. I like the way they lay over when the crappie takes your minnow.

Great show! That is a fantastic float! Need to look into a Bubs daddy air pump for the minnow cooler . They are so quiet you can barely hear it run!

Never seen that bobber before. Looks like a great choice. I think your problem with the rubber bobber stop is the "microwave guide.". I've never had a problem with the rubber stops going through my rod eyes on to my reel. The string stop always comes untied regardless of how many half hitches I put on it.

That is a slick float. I quit slip floating for crappie because of the issues you mentioned and the line not going down etc. this is a nice bobber that I can see working well. Where can a man get one? Doesn’t seem like a lot of options online. Thanks for sharing!

Many thanks for an informative video. What is the specification on the line you are using? lb. test, color, manufacturer. Thill makes that model float in 4" 1/16oz, 1/8oz. 3/16oz also in 5" 1/4oz and 3/8oz. Which one are you using? Thanks in advance for any additional information you can provide.
@2005Pilot2 жыл бұрын
Think he said 1/8oz

Great and really informative video! Enjoyed every bit of it, even when you started calling the minnow a worm! LOL! Two questions: I couldn't tell in the video, but were you hooking the minnow thru both lips or just the top lip? Also, which do you prefer, thru the lips or in the back of the back below the fin? I do both, but have not personally seen an advantage to either, except maybe the back hool keeping the minnow alive a little longer.

Alright, so for many of you that have learned that the Thill Gold Medal euro bobbers have been discontinued... let me elaborate if I may. For one, the name Thill comes from a wonderful gentleman that I had the honor to meet and fish with in Chicago by the name of Mick Thill... Mick spent many years in England learning their methods of fishing and used that knowledge to advance bank angling in the USA.. His Chicago Bank Anglers was a wonderful but little known organization. I still fish with many of his and current models and methods of fishing that is all but unknown here in the US. The floats that were in the Thill Gold Medal euro line were and still are used and in production to this day... just not here in the US! Because we are dummies. The stealth is a simplified version of a waggler, actually a pellet waggler... which is still made in a more durable(plastic) and even more advanced model by drennan, and Matrix, I believe Cadence has some, probably Middy, but Preston Innovation and Drennan are probably the two best.. Other "bodied wagglers" such as the Thill Gold Medal TG Bodied waggers are also available, just not much in balsa anymore... but the TG Bodied waggler and even the Shy bite Gold Medal floats are all exceptional. Google Drennan floats, google Waggler fishing; Avons are also great crappie floats, as are the smallest Pikers and if your into some serious Ultra light fishing check out the pole floats, and pencil floats (which is what the shy bite floats by Thill were modeled after) None of this is new, or rare, just not known here in the US.

@@WiredforCrappie Not a problem, I wish I could have the impact on the world that Mick had on me... I still buy a lot of my fishing gear from the UK ha ha... however the economy is S*!T If you check FishUSA they have Drennan Loafers and Crystal Avons that I love and use most often to this day. Both are intended for moving water (trotting) but both do well on standing waters... the Avons if shotted properly do very well in choppy or wind blown waters, and the loafers are great for more or less still/ less choppy waters. The Pikers are also great but more expensive, but also have the option of through the top style "slip bobber" method as a rigging option. I'd love to help in anyway I can... just an old man with a love of fishing..
@Kmurray9244 Жыл бұрын
On a side note... if you want to have a great time, experience the centrepin reel or the elasticated pole ha ha... the attention I get on the water with either of these is quite debilitating ha ha... I end up explaining and talking more than fishing .. but I love being able to open some people up to ideas they never would have known otherwise.

These are super expensive, I am going to turn my old ones into floats like these, by drilling holes in the bottom, and they will be 1/8 the cost of these.
