The green color is mold. There are actually several molds that can occur. Have been told that it may add to the viscosity of the clay and will be killed off with firing. Thanks for you video, it was very helpful.

Thanks for all your great videos. For all the" self trained" people, they are like taking a master class! Can you speak to the difference between slip and glaze, and also the timing of application- greenware vs bisque. Thanks

Green is prbably mold. In the past i have added some vinegar to my slip and it has helped slow down the mold growth in the bottle but i would try it out and see if it works for you on a test piece. Another option is to mix some citric acid powder in with the slip but again maybe test it first!

You’re probably right about the mold. I’ll probably just leave it alone because it doesn’t effect the color and I’m not eating it. Haha. Thanks for the tips though. Cheers

@@MatthewKellyPottery I think it's algae. Mold is usually black.

thanks for your videos . Can you explain how you prepare your slip because when I use a plastic bottle like you it makes a splash on my pieces, I think it's because there is air but even if I shake the bottle I get a splash. excuse me for my English because I'm from Belgium

Is there a part 2 for the results?

Matthew, have you ever had a problem with joining the pieces together ( bubbles,or cracks) for your big pots. Will the slip run during firing?
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had that problem with my big pots. The red and black slip will run. The white will not.

What are the lip bottles you are using? What might be the size of the tip 14, 6, 18 g Nice work Spontaneous

I think your white has algea. Do you slip trail on pottery that has already been glazed?
@TheWakes1200225 жыл бұрын
Do you one step fire these or bisque then glaze then fire?
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
These will be bisqued and glazed. I have to travel to the kiln site with them so greenware is not a good option.
@TheWakes1200225 жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you mean, traveling with green ware is never a wise move. I've broken too many to count trying to do it. Beautiful work! I am loving these videos!
