As a drummer, they sound on a different planet with Eloy. Joey and Jay were and are phenomenal players, but Eloy is on a whole different level. People just don’t play like this. Incredible chops, groove and TIME.

But, aside from fans shit-for-brains this and that we all know, they both, Eloy and Joey are pretty much different, each one doing his own signature thing. Technically speaking, there's no arguing: Eloy can play anything Joey wrote. The other hand, that's not happening. But anyway, enjoy every season. This is Eloy's now!

Both Joey and Jay did the job needed, but now they have a professional behind the drums. A lot people saying now that Jay was sloppy and sped up the songs but Joey did the same thing. With that being said it doesn’t mean that by default Slipknot is going to be better with Eloy in terms of writing new material. Take for example Mike Mangini ex Dream Theater. The guy showed he was to good for the band since the beginning and you can tell from his previous projects that the band was holding him down. But hey, it’s a really good paycheck.

@@faustorodriguez2697 The difference between Joey, Jay and Eloy is that Joey was part of the friends who played for fun and didn't care about anything, Jay had the opportunity to improve everything but fell into the same vision as Joey, even copying the dances on the bench of the drums in the same way that Joey did, Eloy arrived with professionalism and quality to improve by 100% and that is a fact!

People were saying that he was playing to a click, because of the footage showing the metronome. But, he is just referencing the metronome app at the start of songs to get a feel for the tempo. He's definitely not playing to a click on the tracks where the guitar starts the song. Because the guitar is setting the tempo and neither guitarist is wearing in ear monitors. Craig Reynolds also knows some of the guys in Slipknot and has confirmed that the band definitely don't use a click. It's possible that Eloy is playing to a click on some of the tracks he starts the song though, because he has an in ear monitor on. Could just be that he likes to hear the other instruments clearly though. He's also not using triggers and the full sounding bass drums sound awesome.

It really feels like slipknot is back to their roots. V-man's bass sounds amazing, Eloy's drums are out of this world, Corey's voice sounds like we're back in 2002, And James and Mick are absolutely killing it. The only thing i wish slipknot could've done better is with the backup vocalist. Pfaff doesn't sound good at all, but who am i to complain. They sound fucking amazing.
