My son just turned thirteen and I couldn't be more proud of his genuine love of metal, with particular appreciation for the classic era(s). As a drummer, I always gushed over Joey's inhuman, exhaustless talent, and we both shed a tear when I told him the sad news, even though he's a guitar guy. No memories will ever trump the ones of my son and I jamming in the garage. Oftentimes I just follow along with his lead and marvel at what we end up with. I feel he's more prepared for the world than any kid wearing scrawny pants listening to pop radio. So sad I'll never get to take him to a Pantera show. I know the clock is ticking toward the age when it's not cool to hang out with Dad, so love every moment while you have it!

Jay grew up listening to this guys. No wonder he would fill the shoes of joey but more technique and non repetitive beats. But joey is faster and better.
@TheJokesterSCR2 жыл бұрын
@@slipknotsixcube As a drummer of extreme metal for over 20 years, I absolutely disagree with Jay being in the same realm as Joey. Honestly, neither of them were/are all that great on a technical level, but Joey was the perfect fit for the band. I can hear a clear difference in the drums since Jay joined, and I enjoy his style significantly less even when he mimicks some of Joey's older stuff. I also don't like the sound of his drums. They sound so weak in comparison. Joey's kit sounded massive, especially that snare drum. He was one of my biggest influences as a drummer for the first several years, and I still have a little of his style in my playing and writing to this day, so I'm not dogging on the man. I really miss him being in Slipknot and hope he's at peace now. His performance on Roadrunner United on Annihilation By The Hands of God was fucking awesome and probably the closest to how I write my drums today.

It sounds like the old Slipknot to me, but with touches of the new, both clearer and cleaner in its execution and with greater maturity on the part of the musicians, I hope that their new album will be a mixture of everything they have done and what that make it be Slipknot, Slipknot!

Maturity is such a pointless term, especially when thrown at bands who transitioned away from aggressive music.
The new one is supposed to sound like ‘Vol. 3 and ‘Iowa’ with slightly different vocals thrown in, fast and heavy! Heard that from Jay, the drummer.

@@CarnageRemixes at first I didn't like it. I thought it was the softest album that they have ever released. But after a few more listening, I can't help but feel this is a masterpiece of an album. Banger after banger.

@@thearyaputra it really is an absolute banger album. every slipknot release is S tier, except for the dissapoinment if tbe adderal EP which goes in F tier.. All releases from MFKR to TESF (im even including the 95-98 demos here) belong in S tier.

@@thearyaputra i cant dip into it. For me there are only 3 good songs on this album, which i like to listen even on repeat. H377, Hive Mind and this Banger. All are fast and aggressive. The other songs for me, ruins the pace of the album

This would probably fit real nicely on Iowa tbh. People are afraid to admit they CAN still sound like they used to. But they don't need to. Every album has always been a new stage in the evolution of their sound. No album really sounds the same and that's why I love slipknot. They've literally been growing and changing as have I over the years and it's amazing going back to listening to each album and remembering where I was at that point in life. Can't wait for this new album!
