Great video mate. Good to see you in the warm weather kayak gear. Always makes me chuckle watching folks paddling like a lunatic in a full drysuit. You’re as likely to pass out from heat stroke. You’d be like a boil in a bag chicken. 🤣🤣 Life jacket, vhf radio and common sense. ✅✅✅

I beg to differ John, my mate fish locker, this lad is fit as a lop, I'm 60 now mate, I go out on me kayak, full dry suit, pfd, a rubber ring and inflatable wings, I go commando, so never sweat that much, but I float like a Cork if I come off 🤣🤣 I wanna see me granddaughter get married, nowt wrong with over dressing out at sea, 👍😉

Eyup Nathan. It wouldn't be Slippy without the need for some cheerfulness in adversity. Nice turn around there fella. I had beautiful Wrasse and average Pollock in NW this weekend on a small Sluggo and cheb. Parked up and spotted a rod in the car park and wondered if you'd been there 🙂then noticed it was a dodgy old Shakespeare item and so not yours. This afternoon I found myself in the midst of a family of five Ravens who were happy to divest me of my steamed cockle snacks that I'd foraged the other day. It turns out there actually was a nest near my (possible?) new mark and the chicks have now fledged successfully.🙂🙂 I'll sithi after, Dave.

Some nice Codling there bud. A good lesson to the people who are watching, things can go so wrong very quickly at sea. As you had with you, a radio is a must. Mobiles should never be relied on. Glad you got back safe. Interesting session. You just never know!...Tight lines.

Must admit, I wasn't prepared for that breakage, just happy I was able to rely on past experience/training. You're right about the mobile a radio and I even carry a bilge pump, but a spare paddle will be included in that safety equipment from now on. Thanks and tight lines👍🎣

Haha, got to ake the most out ofbour available sessions. Leashes are a bit of conundrum, I don't really like them, since they tangle you up if you tip, but they do save you from losing tackle. Either way, I'll definitely be carrying a spare split paddle from now one. Tight lines👍🎣

You’re having a nightmare on the yak of late, first rods now paddles. They always say bad things come in 3….best make a prayer to the fish gods! In between Seahouses and around the Farnes I believe, are some of the strongest currents and rips on the coast. Hard work slogging against the tide, but good for the fishing. Even in the height of summer, it’s almost always quiet off there. Good to see the codling back. I did see a load of birds working the other day, bodes well for the summer. Cheers

I didn't show it in the vid, but the zip on my drypants broke as well, so hopefully that's those 3 out of the way and I can save some cash! There were what seemed to be shoals of sand eels on the sonar so things should be on the move shortly. 🤞

Great watch that although a little squeaky bum with the paddle! It's clear you know your stuff and had radio etc. I had a scary experience on my kayak just a moulded number. I was totally at the mercy of the tide one of the biggest of the year nearly 10 meters! Ended up in a race and going backwards! Got in safely eventually. Opened my eyes being an experienced surfer and very fit! Loved a couple of those claw takes thing it was the 2nd one pulling the rod straight over the side quality

Great video gonna get myself some of them craw lures for a try. Glad the paddle break didn’t cause too much bother. I find it weird how the species seem to congregate? I was out of amble last week and had about 50 between my son and I but all coalies.

The cod seem to like them and I know then pollack do, from the shore at least. Yeah, they seem to be shoaling species, so if you find one then you'll normally get a few more! Tight lines👍🎣

Exactly why I use a peddle drive much easier and you have a paddle as a back up, I have 2 of the same rods awesome for the money, only thing that annoys me with them is the line always wraps around the top of the rod and 1st eye, so constantly have to check it

I don't reall get that problem, bu my only issue is the the eyes aren't spaced for a baitcaster or small multi

Not far from the point, there a shelf that makes the sea 'boil' when the tides running.... Must be a height difference of around 20ft, just being near it can produce a good day. And in the bay, there's a kelp covered 'plateau' with big drops on all sides giving good fishing too. 😎

Maybe the fish disappearing coincided with the seal. It may have been there for a while before you spotted it. Well done not freaking out when your paddle broke. Maybe go upmarket for the next one?
@SlippyLimpets
@SlippyLimpets 2 жыл бұрын
Could well be right about the seal but like i said in the vid, that sort of shoal seem to be there one minute and gone the next. You can sometimes track them down again but not with one paddle! I acquired that paddle 2nd hand about 10 years ago, so who knows what a tough life it's had before I got a hold of it but you could be right there, and definitely a split paddle stored in the hull from now on.

I carry all sorts of saftey equipment, even a bilge pump but it never occurred to me that my paddle would break. I'll be ordering a split paddle along with a replacement so I have a spare. I got the paddle about 10 years ago 2nd had and not sure how old it was back then, so it had a fair lifespan, luckily they're not made any more.

Great video mate, what time of the year was this and what where you using to fish with, I looked like a fake shrimp? Just got into Kayak fishing and there is some really rocky ground just near me. The ground is large rocks quite close together, apart from spinning what would you recommend how to fish?
@SlippyLimpets
@SlippyLimpets 2 жыл бұрын
Shot this vid at the end of April and the lure was a Zman Punch crawz 3.5 inch, rigged on a 4/0 weedless hook and a 30 or 40g cheb weight. If the ground you're describing is 3 or 4 metres of water, or deeper, then fishing vertically would be a good shout, you won't snag up as much. Hope this helps
