Slow Cooked Beef Stew And Potato Recipe
Ingredients I used, please adjust for yourself, but this was tasty as!
500 to 700g stewing beef
6 garlic
2 medium onion
2 carrots
3 small twigs of rosemary
1.5 cups beef stock
1/2 cup red wine
a swirl of tomato sauce
butter
8 cherry tomatoes
2 x 2 cm piece of citrus peel
4 medium potatoes
Slow cooked for 6 hours

Good effort. Few tips to make it better: - Sautee the beef for longer until it starts to go brown. Don’t need to keep stirring it - let it sit and allow one side to caramelise first. The flavour will be much better. - Thicken the stew at the end either by cooking with lid off on sautee for say 15-30 mins, or mix a bit of corn flour and water and add that to the stew and cook for a bit longer. A few little tweaks and it’ll be tasting like a pub stew in no time.

I like to add pumpkin to mine. If I can't buy fresh I add canned pumpkin soup for the flavour. I also salt pepper and flour my meat before I saute. My potatoes are mashed on the side and I like to add gravox to it for oomph.

Beef stew is definitely a cold weather favorite! It reminds me of my grandmas beef stew only she would have a thicker beef gravy in the slow cooker.

That looked fan-freaking-tastic! Only thing I'd do different is, I'd dredge the meat in flour before sautéing it. It will brown it nicely, but will also help thicken the broth as it cooks. Therefore, you'll have more of a gravy than a thin soup. I think it's time to drag the slow cooker out!

Nice mate, roll the meat in flour , braise till brown in little oil, remove meat chuck in half cup of any shit red wine and cook it of a bit. Chuck meat and veggies back into pot with meat or vegetable stock add bay leaf and cook, no bullshit that wine makes it 😅

ive wondered about doing a perpetual stew all through this current winter like they did in the olden days. leave my slow cooker on constantly on the bench, and just top it up with whatever is looking a bit sad and pathetic in the fridge and needs using up. top it up with stock and water as needed to keep things covered. this way ill always have a nice hot stew on hand at any time day or night. bit of crusty bread and some BUTTER,.... and bobs your uncle. chareckon there grego ?

I know it'd take a bit more effort, but I reckon that would go alright if you made mashed potatoes instead of putting them in the stew. The mash would soak up all that liquid and it'd taste even more buttery. 👌

Make it Greek style. Oregano and olive oil. No butter or rosemary. Add noodles at the end and let them soften for about 3 minutes. Use lemon to finish it off with heaps of pepper... Thanks mate. 🤗😁👍🍻❤️

Pretty close to Karelian hot pot. Almost how I make it, as well. I prefer to use beef cheek, shallots, tomato passata and bay leaf. And if I want to make chili instead of a basic beef stew, it's just a couple of ingredients away.

ANY help ☺️ alternative to using pressure cooker ? I'm guessing oven 300⁰ for 5 hours do the saute part in a skillet and transfer to oven. Or Over the stove in a pot 🍯 then you can do the liquids for about 5 hours. Any suggestions? Greg, wya _ need your advice. Thanks

@@MarcKlark you can cook it fast or slow. Like low heat or med high. But cooking it on a higher temp you'll have to stir it often. Depending on your pan I guess. In the oven I'd say 325 to 350 for a couple hours. Google it and you'll find the correct answer. Lol . I'm just old and had to cooked for 5 kids. 💪🖖
