I've always made corned beef and veggies every year for St. Patricks day for as long as I can remember. I've never done it in the crockpot so this year I will. Thanks for sharing Catherine. 🙂❤

We do corned beef every year for the 17th. Will now cook it in the crock. Like the beef cold on rye bread, think we died & went to heaven with that meal. Thanks Catherine another winner.

I cook onions and cabbage with corned beef but potatoes and carrots separately just because I cook the corned beef for at least 12 hours. I generally go out on St Patrick’s Day for this traditional meal. I’ve tried many different restaurants. Some serve it just beautifully and the meat is like shoe leather. About 8 or 10 years ago I discovered it at my favorite mom and pop restaurant and it’s just delicious. The search was over. I just always go there now. It’s my favorite restaurant. They know my name. I don’t have to order my food. They know my favorite, well my usual waitress does. It looks absolutely delicious. I can’t wait until the 17th. A few of us are going out for corn beef and cabbage. The only difference for me is the amount of cabbage I cook. I’d do at least one huge one, but probably two. That and the meat are my favorites. My family is big on cooked cabbage dishes. I make haluska (sp). Tennessee cabbage, cabbage casserole, cabbage rolls or saramas. I just love it any way. I also love it cold and I love sauerkraut dishes. Mom was Polish.

Corned Beef is one of my favorite meals. After it comes out I put a slathering of honey mustard dressing and pop it in the oven at 450 until it gets brown and crispy. It is amazing!!!! The combination of salty and sweet is where it is at.

I never saw it in Ireland when I visited years ago. It may have been a recipe created by Irish immigrants with ingredients readily available in America when they arrived.

@@Lee-eo1vp Look at the history of corned beef on Wikipedia. It’s actually quite fascinating! But yes, Susan Marr has the right idea. Most Irish couldn’t afford it in Ireland, but corned beef was much more available and affordable once they got here to America, and it reminded them of home, if I recall correctly.

For me this is the only way to make this delicious meal. It’s so simple I buy 1- 2 more briskets and put them in the freezer. Then I can have it again during the year not just on St. Patrick’s Day. 🍀 and just like Catherine mentioned definitely use broth not water!!

Lovvvve corned beef. I try to buy several when they go on sale for St. Patricks and freeze them. A couple of years ago I bought a whole corned beef and cut it up into 10 roasts which was great but will NEVER do again because you have to trim it out first, which took forever, a meat pro I am not lol. Great idea using the slow cooker, Im going to give that a try this year! Love you guys and God bless!
