My previous slow cooker finally died, (I actually broke the crock), so I bought a Instant Pot to replace it. I do believe I'll make it this week. It would also be worth making it in the oven in my Made-In Dutch oven.
@alireid587411 ай бұрын
It might be better to do stovetop. Instant pot slow cooker function is known to be bad/problematic. I tried a pressure cook jambalaya recipe today and wish I had cooked on the stove.
@bigthing757 ай бұрын
Deglaze the Instant Pot pan with a little water, chicken broth, or a liquid of your choice. I have not tried this recipe but, if you don't deglaze that pan, you will get a burn notice. Deglazing also adds flavor. Also, not sure what model you have. With the Instant Pot Pro 6 quart, I've cooked some great meals on slow cooker mode.

When you asked how others level jambalaya up, down here in Texas I use jalapenos (seeds and all) for spice as opposed to cayenne pepper that is typically used.

I love Jambalaya! Glad to see you using different colored bell peppers. So many people believe the Cajun Trinity (onion, celery, & bell pepper) should be only green bell peppers. Those red, orange, yellow bell peppers add so much to the flavor! Thanks for the video!

I made this recipe this week. My wife loved it as is, but I thought it tasted better with added salt and Worcestershire sauce. I put uncooked rice in 1 hour before the end as the video mentioned, but the rice was still hard when it was all done. Overall, it was a good base for a Cajun recipe. My wife and I enjoy your videos.

I make jambalaya when I make a roasted chicken. I use the leftovers from the roasted bird and stock I make from the frame as the liquid. I usually add ham and or sausage with shrimp. I start out in a dutch oven, render some bacon on the stove top and make my roux, then add in aromatics, let that soften, tomato paste and meats and then rice, toss it until the rice grains get coated in oil. I put my liquid in and the whole thing bakes in the oven in about 50 minutes at 350. I've never tried doing it in the slow cooker, but I'm going to try it now. :D
