I'm an experienced skier, ex-instructor and comfortable on any kind of terrain except for the biggest of big mountains, but a beginner boarder. I sometimes put myself on a board to delibrately slow myself down so that my family or partner don't feel like I'm constantly leaving them behind. Videos like this are great for someone who was self taught as they get just enough into the mechanics and give excercises that you can follow, but without feeling totally confusing. Thanks a lot!

I’ll never forget, the first time I went snowboarding It never occurred to me that you have to take the chair lift with only one foot attached. 😂 It was a whole new world

This was more what I was thinking from the last turns video. Great detail here. Different turns have different applications and will each be used in different situations by a wide range of riders. I feel like slow turns are often referred to as beginner turns inaccurately. More advanced riders may use that same kind of turn when when the situation suits it.

As someone that has taught skiing for 12 years and is in the beginning stages for the advanced turns mainly figuring it out as i go cause i know how important edges are. This video is super dope and giving me alot of things to thing about,. On beginner turns something that help and really at all stages is pointing where you wana go, helps with confidence and setting up shoulders

Thanks so much! You’re a great instructor and good at explaining and breaking down the steps. Can you share where you were in this video? Is it Whistler? If so, which run? I hope it’s green. I’d love practice on this wide and long run. Thanks!!!

This is gold bro. I have been skiing for 20 years, but only snowboarding for some weeks. Totally other movement. Not that easy as it looks like. Great location by the way. What ski resort is this?

Can you explain a little bit more about how to slow yourself down at the beginning of a turn rather than the end of one to help start doing medium turns? Ty!

Hi Kevin, another great video. I'm going to be honest, I only snowboard at an indoor snowdome and as stupid as this is going to sound... Lately I have had a fear of doing heel and toe turns. I got hit by a skiier a couple months ago whilst I was doing a heel edge turn and for some reason now I have hit a wall, like fear has crept in whenever I try to do a turn. I just end up up to heel and toe slides and that's it. I can't even figure out now how yo even iniate a turn. Can you help? Thank you.

I learned to snowboard by myself a few years ago and id say im pretty confident in how im doing but i noticed that i have a completely different technique than what most of the videos that im watching rn are showing ?😭 it might be because i was waveboarding before/during learning to snowboard so the habit of pushing my nondominant leg back while turning is showing hard lol, idk if thats bad? like i dont have a problem with turning this way. i do feel uncomfortable on 'steeper' slopes because i feel like im accelerating too much and i start to panic and usually go to a full stop for a second or two.

Thanks.

The key element to make fast turns is up and down unweighting. Not that bullshit in the video.
@CyberMew

Do you have a good link to a video on that? I don’t understand this up down unweighting 😅

@@CyberMew Here is the video At 15-25 seconds, you can see this flexing of the knees before the turn and straightening of the legs in the beginning and middle of the turn. This is up unweighting. LAter in the video, you can find the exercises that help to understand how it works. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJrOgK2tep6oldU

Hey thanks man. I am going to try this tomorrow. I started snowboarding a couple months ago and have progressed pretty quickly but I’m having trouble going from intermediate to expert on my 1/2 second turns. You made it all click in! My problem is when there’s mougals EVERYWHERE and I’m trying to keep speed and keep my turns small….I end up having to go wide because the bumps are to rough and if I go too fast I eat it😂 is there a way you could do a video combing what your saying in this video when the runs are not flat and you want to go fast straight without the extreme pressure on your knees or catching on the bumps? Thanks again❤
