Join me for a few scenic stops around Weymouth Harbour in Dorset, taking in the view from various spots along the east side, then a lovely tranquil ride on the Penny Ferry and back up the west side, just in time to see Town Bridge open up to let the boats through.
Slow TV isn't for everyone, and that's OK - nothing is scripted here - no narration or music - nothing much happens, except by chance. Most of the sound in this video is just the various noises of human activity, gulls, boats, water and ocasionally, passing road traffic.

I love Weymouth. This video reminds me of Southern Television starting up for the evening, showing footage from around the region as music plays before displaying their logo. Thanks Atomic

@@OGKenGWeymouth Harbour Tramway (actually a normal railway rather than a tramway) was a branch from the main line that ran down to the harbour running on tracks along the streets and harbour side, serving harbour side businesses with freight and passengers for the Channel Islands ferries. The last train ran on it in 1999 and I believe it no longer exists.

I grew up in a coastal town, later moved to another town on the same coast. Harbours are very much alike, even in different countries - I'd happily rent a boat for a couple of hours and row... how did you know what I was going to write and film what I had in mind? Another of your time-travelling shenanigans no doubt.

These must take such effort to collate and edit - and to such a peaceful, gentle effect! Felt like being on the ferry, and present for a thorough wander. "A Winter Day at Bowleaze Cove" will retain the bedtime slot, but this will be lovely for a future afternoon when a quieter mind is of wont. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to make this, and share it with all of us!

Lovely video, Thank you. I have been to Weymouth several times, though not recently - I'm not big on nostalgia, but I do prefer the harbour with fewer yachts (preferably half a dozen or so), and with railway engines on the quayside. It's a lovely place, but due to modern 'bigger and faster' commerce, it's going to get to a point where every 'short sea' port is going to be bereft of any real maritime purpose, and will just be full of pleasure craft, some of which will never leave their moorings. Another downside, is that owners of vessels can, and often do, get public access to adjacent quayside areas blocked, because of fears of crime, so sightseeing people have to either make detours, or even abandon their walk entirely. I worked on port security for nearly 30 years, and can attest to this. Sad but true.

Very picturesque but too slow for me! I put it at twice the speed but it made the sea to choppy to enjoy the tranquility. Rowing sequence became far too uncool. Thanks for trying.

'Slow TV' is meant to be slow. No dialogue, only ambient sound. It's designed to be relaxing, and indeed, some viewers find these videos enable them to get to sleep. Some people are far too impatient nowadays - everything is a terrible rush. A fact everyone on this planet seems to conveniently forget, is that all of us, with no exception, is tumbling headlong towards death. Why speed that up? Slow down occasionally, and look around you, and take in every detail. It will take time, and it will be worth it - watch some 'Slow TV' for example. And relax.

Reminds me of my birth town of Port Angeles, Washington, USA (a ferry ride away to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) on the Straight of Juan de Fuca as there is a marina. Of course I only lived there until I was eight years old, but do visit once in a while when occasion permits. Very stunning British seaside scene here, Mike.
