I’ll never understand how a band can disappear for 20+ years and come back as good if not better than they were.
@goldenhourkodak4 жыл бұрын
They didn't necessarily disappear. Mojave 3 happened.

@@goldenhourkodak Slowdive disappeared. Half the band wasn't involved in Mojave 3.

Rehearsal & practice makes a band good/better. I should imagine they had a fair amount before they re-started plus effects-pedal-technology is better now (self naming unintended) & live-engineers are better equipped to mix this kind of thing live now (self-naming unintended) :-)

@@NOWtheband I think perhaps you should read up on what the word "pun" means. There wasn't a single pun, intended or otherwise, in your comment!

During that two decade hiatus,I don't think the individual members realized how IMMORTAL what they created in the Nineties was.Thankfully both old and, droves of new fans,began to cause them to reassess their true legacy!

I hope they know just how much their music meant to us all. Funny how impactful they were, with just the three albums. They have almost singlehandedly inspired a revolution. I think there are more beautiful noise bands now than there were in the 90's
@softlightsymphonyband7 жыл бұрын
TheCwhite137 advances in technology and the ready accessibility to scores of pedals designed specifically to make sounds Conducive to this style of music hasn't hurt either. Back in the day the sounds that bands like slowdive, Cocteau twins and similar put to record seemed magical and impossible to replicate for the average guitarist. The bands themselves were in innovators too because the limits of the technology then and limitations of choices of effects required a lot of trial and error and experimentation. They had to be creative on both the songwriting and technology fronts. Nowadays anybody with a little cash can build a pedalboard designed specifically for dreampop sounds with little effort. The blueprint has already been written and the effects market has never been more conducive. The mystique has vanished: sort of a diluting of the shoegaze/dreampop gene pool really because the early 4AD/dreampop/showgaze bands often still had great songs under all the beautiful noise. Today a lot of "ambient guitarists" think buying $1500 worth of boutique pedals and then unimaginatively playing volumes swells is somehow the same. It isn't... :shrug

Øne of the most epically, emotionally, beautiful show ending performances I have ever seen & heard, probably ever_ I would seriously drop kick Syd Barrett himself, out a fourth floor window in order to turn back the clock & be there, right up front & center.... Right next to the blue haired angel that was overcome with emotion & joy throughout Slowdive's entire set. Hell Yeah.... I got no problem being that close to another fan who gets it on that level. It's so beautiful _

13:09 Rachel walks away from her brilliant performance and let's the guys finish it. I love how she goes to the side of the stage and watches it like a true fan. Slowdive is like the Queen is watching. Do not fuck this up. No worries. Godly they are. They straight up killed it. Rachel was probably like, yeah, that's my dudes up there being bad ass as it gets. Win.
