I collect the 100 coin star in Tiny-Huge Island without using any buttons (I only use the joystick and adjust the camera angle).

For people complaining about the c-buttons, this is a TAS. The player doesn't necessarily needs to see where he is going because he can just keep rerecording until his movement toward the level is precise regardless of camera. There is only one game affecting glitch regarding the camera (c-up slide) that I know of, and it wasn't performed here, so I'm inclined to believe that a guy like pannen only used the camera here for our viewing pleasure, and the convenience was just a bonus for him.

I know this is TAS, but how do you account for RNG? I noticed at around 1:30 you were knew exactly where to direct Mario in order to pick up those blue coins in midair, but isn't their trajectory random? Or is controlling RNG allowed in a TAS run?

Well no RNG is actually random, and the one in SM64 follows a set line of numbers. He did a video about it, pretty interesting stuff.

Oh yeah, I forgot! Yeah, I saw that video. So he might have had an RNG counter and knew exactly where the coin was going to land from the moment he landed on the goombah. He probably even timed his goomba pound exactly so that the coin would give the trajectory he wanted. Which also means a human run of this would take either terrifying precision, or a LOT of chance and do-overs .

Owen Frazier Frame walking doesn’t have to be frame perfect at all, in fact, it can be done RTA. It’s just much slower that way. But yes, this is TAS, as confirmed by other observations.
