You could consider the XGIMI HALO (800 ANSI LUMEN) or the Philips PICOPIX MAX (850 ANSI LUMEN). But I would prefer the Formovie DICE (550 ANSI LUMEN) which is similar in image quality to this one but has Android TV 9 OS + a battery pack (+- 3 hours).

What about the loss of focus? This model has reputation to loose focus after couple of hours.

I've not experienced this. I'd imagine if you put the projector next to speakers vibration can knock off the angle and cause the focus shift. Device itself focuses just once and it's triggered manually if focus adjustment is needed.

Go to wireless menu on your projector then use Windows wireless display option. It should show up there. I don't remember exactly what's the menu is called in Xiaomi projector but it's under the top side options I believe.

I tried the PS4 unfortunately it was difficult with the latency (tested on red red 2) to aim. With practice you could be ok for casual games but forget anything online.

The input lag isn't due to controller latency but the DLP tech itself. Casual games are fine but anything that needs aiming and you are in a pickle

There is a post on XDA about rooting and flashing custom rom - I have not tried, and it looks a little complicated. If you just want to have a couple of apps then sideloading is more than you need but if you want to have google services, that's going to be a difficult road to take

Great review, it was very informative. What do you think, can I use this as a study Projector (8-12hrs of daily)? Currently I am using an LCD projector which works fine. I just want to know whether this DLP projector could potentially cause headache if used for long period of time. Just by looking at the footage I cab say that the colour wheel is spinning fast which is a good thing but can it lead to headaches. Currently even after using the LCD projector that I have for about 12 hours a day I can barely see any effects on my eyes (it has changed my life). Halo is better featured. Biggest advantage is better brightness but may not be enough for day viewing. It's about twice as expensive. Bought the international version a month ago. I have a problem with it. While watching movies or playing games the image when showing a dark scene brights up for a second or two. This breaks immersion. When I use the built in android box this effect is not happening. Any idea what can cause this?

Night time you should be fine. I can watch it ok at night with a bedside lamp on. Anything stronger than that and you will feel it's too bright.

Same principle applies. If you have similar darkness levels to what you can get in your bedroom with a night lamp on you will be happy. The speaker is pretty good and you can definitely run a film night without extra speakers

Will this trigger a continue autofocusing or will be kept always the same focus? or can i set manually a focus and de-activate the autofocus? 2) I would need to use the projector outdoor for about 3-4 hours. How long is the play time of this projector? 1. It won't refocus. You if you change the wall you need to reboot or use focus menu to recalibrate. 2. There is no battery. 3. I would not advise it for outdoor use. The image becomes good when curtains are drawn (indoor, daylight). Sunset until nautical dawn it's still bright. Its workable but probably not the strongest suit of this projector.

Looking at the steamlink footage, I remember streams about 50FPS. I;m not sure if this is based on the delivered content or the actual refresh rate of the monitor but the game played like it's 30+ FPS for sure

I am days away of ordering mine, but because I will use it extensively for gaming (pc, mostly 1. and 3. person titles, but non competitive) and just got some info concerning lag of the device, I would like to ask about the lag in the the best case scenario. Game source (console or pc) - hdmi cable - little guy. You mentioned streaming games from your pc over WiFi. May I ask you to check the input delay in the mentioned best case? You are welcome. I was playing Witcher 3 over the WiFi (steamlink) and it was okish. Plugging it directly would remove a couple ms from the latency but I think the latency of DLP Vs network is like 5to1so you actually won't notice that much improvement. I do enjoy games like xcom tho

@@notenoughtech well, the signal of the controller needs to get to the pc and then all the visual data needs to get back over the air to the projector. So I am pretty convinced that if the signal path is just pc, cable, projector, the timing will be way better. Would be sooo amazing if you could test that... Another very casual and basic, borderline unusable video about input delay mentions "I am not in gaming mode, this is standart setting" when filming. So either he meant that there is no gaming mode, or that there actually is one and he just won't use it right now (improbable, I know). He hooked a console directly through hdmi to the little guy (I like that name for it ☺), but chose the worst genre to display lag, a motorbike trial game (nothing happens instantly anyway) and a hectic racer, also not the best showcase for delay. So you are my last hope 🥺😄

The biggest issue is the DLP technology - it uses a spinning array of mirrors to cast an image so for the pixel to refresh, it has to waif for the mechanism to turn. This is the disadvantage here and it's not something that could be easily fixed. It increases the projector lifespan, at the cost of the latency

You can project from an angle. Just remember by doing so you will reduce the screen size and resolution

I watched your unboxing video for this. I'm actually quite impressed that the picture turned out ok because there was lots of light coming in from the window and this is advertised as only having 500 lumens. I'm looking for a projector to use in a room where there will be lots of light leakage from the window blinds but only need to do powerpoint stuff. Do you think this is bright enough?

If you draw the curtains it's good. Obviously the darker it gets the better it looks

@@notenoughtech Oh, I seems like it is 500 ANSI lumens and NOT 500 Lumens. That and the price was what had me doubting this a little. Now, its just the price. Hope I can find one on sale!

Acer... Lamp life is 5000h Vs 30.000h on xiaomi.. all listed by you projectors are not in the same class I would say. Xiaomi is equipped with android TV box and connectivity options which are lacking elsewhere on listed by you models. I'm not sure what is your use case but it will be hard to argue q better deal if you can live with no smart assistant on your Projector

I'm sorry for the late reply. In all honesty, I would have to get a couple of more projectors to be able to give you an honest reply. I'm happy with the what Xiaomi offers in terms of the picture/sound - bear in mind this is my first projector and the previous experience are the slides and powerpoints at work.

@@notenoughtech Don't worry and thanks again for the answer. In the end I bought a dlp projector on Amazon (spending around 500€). I did not choose Xiaomi because it is possible to buy it only on Chinese sites (therefore problems with the guarantee, returns cannot be made easily, delays in shipping, etc.). The model I purchased is the HD144X optoma, it is not a Benq w series but it should work quite well. If you're interested, I'll let you know how it works as soon as it arrives. Thanks again

Not used the Mogo Pro but it comes with Google Assistant but with 300 ANSI Vs 500 ANSI with this one. It will come down to what's more important to you. If you don't mind watching in a complete dark and paying s little extra... MoGo is a good choice

There are 2 SKU available now. Mine was released first and came without Google play store. The one linked in description is a global version and has Google services unlocked which means it can be used like proper android box. As to colour of the remote 🤷🏻‍♂️ mine is white :) I seen the black ones on AliExpress maybe it just the colour design change

It depends how much you want to spend really. Not gonna lie 4k is a tempting upgrade as the bigger the screen the more you benefit.

I would not recommend it. The latency is too big for that. Casual games are fine but anything competitive and you will be at the disadvantage
