We are a smaller church, in a small town, about 50 parishioners. About 3 years ago, I brought up the subject of security, and it was white washed. ( prior to moving to this town, I not only formed a security team, but was in charge as a team leader. I took many classes and seminars about how to deal with a preach of security, and safety for attendees. ) Our leaders then, decided that safety might be a good idea, but unfortunately, they won't share what protocols and or practices, that they have implemented. This brings up a major concern, as we have many of us, whom carry firearms, with no idea as to what the plan of attack may be, if, something were to happen. I'm afraid that this attitude may create mass chaos, in the event that something were to happen.

In small towns & small country churches you have to stick around for at least a couple of years before they will begin to trust you. And when you bring up security/safety issues BEFORE they invite you into the circle, that's an automatic red flag. Not saying right/wrong, but it is the way it is.

I am a part of the security team at my church. In my role i get to see a bit more of what it takes to make a sunday service happen and all the volunteers it takes to implement the plan. I can imagine in a small church it may be more difficult to have " that one mote need" to fill. I think something to consuder in small chyrches, they could have a "family meeting" and duscuss the need fir security. Then in effect tell all the members that they are responsible for security. If effect everyone is on the security team. Provide guidance and instruction on tgat to look for and nominate a point person to report to. In a small church it seems to me that burnout is a concern a d brunging everyone on board may be a good solution.

Our old church was about 100 or so. They flat out refused to do anything about it and brushed it off repeatedly. Even after they had a interruption in the church. The random church shootings didn't change anything either. Was a meh, moment but we left and started our own church

God gives us what we need in order to do His will. It's called Divine Providence. If you are the only person ready, willing, and able to guard your congregation of Believers, then that is all they need. If you need back-up, it will appear. This does not mean that you do not have to work, plan, improve...take personal responsibility and exercise good stewardship. But it means you should be confident, at peace, and not worry.

Unbelievable, this goes against biblical scriptures. We have to be willing to give up our lives for the Lord Jesus Christ when the time arrives, but it is clear the churches are not willing to do that.
