The movie was not great but it didn’t suck. It had moments where the jokes didn’t land well, and many times where the acting was not good, and the nostalgia did a lot of the heavy lifting. Still, I loved it! Had so much fun with it and there was a lot of heart put into this. If anything, the pay off is the ending with how they honored both the old man and the original movie. Any fan of the first movie is going to enjoy this and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who watches the 24hr marathon on TBS every year.

Merely his stepping stone to joining the DEA after he arrests former sidekick Grover Dill (now the biggest narcotics kingpin in Indiana) along with his own kids who became employees of Grover’s. Sending his kids to prison not only leads to his divorce, but Scut Farkus goes on to battle other narcotics kingpins from The Bronx to the Rio Grande.
@afriendofbean10 ай бұрын
@Michael1986443 I agree, especially since Scut kind of told Ralphie that after Ralphie beat him up, that gave him a wake up call to stop bullying and it might have persuaded him to be a cop and be helpful in life and probably felt that he shouldn't have followed in his father's footsteps since he mentioned that his father was very strict on him.

Not half bad of an idea. Although, at least another twenty years is needed, time wise that is. By which time, Heaven only knows what has happened by then. Whereas, to really zing things about, Ralphie should at least find himself living across the street from Clark Griswold? Ofcourse, Julie is the teacher of Rusty’s kids. Mark on the other hand is now a business partner of Uncle Randy. However, in case Rusty’s son looks at a flirtatious salesgirl, the kid will be punished by having to watch either of the following movies: “BEN-HUR”, “KING OF KINGS”, or “THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD”. Afterall, didn’t Clark punish Rusty for looking at a salesgirl by forcing him to watch “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE” in “NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION”? If Ralphie is a grandparent, let’s just hope that his daughter-in-law has a preference for roast goose for Christmas instead of turkey 🦃?
@afriendofbean10 ай бұрын
@bfettrules1239 That would be nice to get another film but, maybe it might be hard because it would probably be the same movie repeating itself with Ralphie as a grandparent with his children having children of their own where it would have to have Ralphie's mom passing away since his father already passed away.
@bfettrules123910 ай бұрын

I was very surprised by this movie. Was happy it wasn't just 90 minutes of throwback jokes and references to the original film, with cringy slapstick thrown in (like that other Christmas Story sequel), and almost all throwbacks were rather subtle. Was more like a Reunion Film, without becoming a Reunion Film with a rather touching send off to The Old Man, Darren McGavin.

What they don't show is that the stolen Christmas gifts go to some poor children for their holiday, as gifts had already been provided for Ralphie's family.

The latest Jean Shepard movie was very enjoyable, and the ending was similar to Big Fish. "A Christmas Story" screenplay is a digest of several chapters of Ralphie in his teens consolidated into the chapter that was solely about 10 yo Ralphie wanting a BB gun. Several of the elements had already been done on PBS in the mid 70s...including the Leg Lamp which was won from Orange Neehi soda (the flapper leg was their logo). Flick and Schwartz...their dads....the tongue on pole....Scott Farkus....none of that was in the original written and radio delivered story...but was in others. Randy's zeppelin and the bunny suit was in the original story. Might I suggest: The Phantom of the Open Hearth. The Great American 4th of July and other disasters. Ollie Hoopenanies. A Summer Story (Charles Groden and Mary Steenburgen) which is another digest.

He actually doesn’t still have braces, the picture from the thumbnail is from a scene where it cuts from present day Scut to the way we remember Scut from the original movie. Also, you should be able to do a free trial for HBOMax so you can watch the movie!
@LindaCooper-i3f Жыл бұрын
Merely CGI on those dental braces. Besides, I got a good feeling that one of these days, the Farkus kids will join the narcotics ring run by their dad’s old friend Grover Dill, when they get into high school. Eventually, Scut sends them to prison along with Grover, but the arrest of his kids strains his marriage, and he eventually leaves the Hohman PD for a career with the DEA taking other narcotics kingpins from The Bronx to the Rio Grande.

Not only did they have to hammer in these poorly done comparisons to the original film…they were obvious and distasteful…but you’re wrong about more than a few others. Ralphie’s dad was far from trying to create the perfect Christmas for the family. He was just average. That’s how most of us Dads are in America. The movie basically sucked. This movie was definitely not even close as good as the original, but it had me tearing up more than once. A lot of the comedy fell flat... It's the remembrance and honoring of the old man that carried this movie. It's a shame that Hollywood can't figure out that slapstick comedy isn't funny.
