You can actually turn some of these systems off in the settings, and when they activate, they only hold the pressure until you put your foot back on the brake or gas pedal. So you can get as close as you want but of course the beeping might still persist.

The thing I notice here is that these vehicles have effectively no rear bumpers. The Honda CR-V for example took tailgate damage because there was only a inch or so of bumper to compress and take the impact of the pole before the pole was driven into the tailgate causing paint transfer and actual body panel damage. Rear auto brake may help but maybe having bumpers that have enough crumple zone to handle these sorts slow speed impacts would be a cheaper solution or even just a passive backup in case the autobrake fails to respond.

I have been hit twice by drivers that reversed out of their parking spot in parking lots without looking, the first time was an ubereats driver, and he claimed that I came out of no where, I told, him, that it was him who was not paying attention while driving, he even claimed that he had a quick glance to his phone, that costed his insurance almost 10000$ in repairs for my car. The second time was in Ottawa with a rental car, the damn driver was old and I saw him start to reverse on me, I started honking and my hand stayed at the horn while he did his whole stupid maneuver he backed out slowly and never reacted tkt he horn, he kept backing up until he lifted the car, he was thankfully going so slow, that no damage was caused, so we just agreed that there was no need for insurance claims.
