It's an antique street fair! The 1910s downtown of Centralia, Washington is home to hundreds of antique dealers, and once a year, a street full of special guest vendors from all over the region appear! I'm appraising at this year's Antique Fest, but I get a few breaks between appraisals to show what's fun and fabulous for collectors...and flippable for resellers.
Rain doesn't deter Northwest collectors, and a nice crowd combs through everything from Paul Frankl and Caselli modernist furniture to an Old Virginia dough bowl and a 19th century coverlet in a different color scheme! As the day dries, more comes out to sell, with such a variety--old tins, boxes, chalkware, uranium glass, 1960s barware, Bitossi and American pottery...there's a lot of fun to see here!
There's more than unusual vintage at the Fest this year, as one dealer pulls up a trailer with built-in shelves that opens up to be an instant showroom! A row of colorful phones, fun 1960s toys and a lot of other non-breakables stay up permanently, and the furniture and breakables in boxes go outside on tables. I want one too!
Antique Fest flies right by, but we sure have fun! We'll be back to show you the appraisal fair in another video soon.

When we bought our first house in Beaverton in 1999, we collected switchplates and had different ones in each room of the house. My dad said they were "ostentatious"! LOL With those Franciscan plates, I love how they set them up in a dish rack. 😆

Enjoy your show & immensely appreciate your knowledge in such an array of categories. Your connection to Kentucky (our home) intrigues my husband and me. It was surprising to find you in Greenville for the flea market there. We often still call it jockey, as many did especially in its beginning since it was the forerunner. We love when you have a show while you’re in Kentucky & towns you’ve mentioned-Dawson Springs, Earlington, your warehouse “house”, Litchfield, etc. Wells Logan County, KY

My grandmother had a Larkin desk , she paid 10 dollars and a proof of purchase from the soap. They are sturdy little desks and yet lady like . John Gnagy was big in the 60s he had a t.v. show still some of them on utube .Great show .

Brother!! You should totally get a trailer set up! We’re all getting older, that’s just a fact! Think how much easier it would be especially on rainy days! If it’s too hot, then you could pull stuff out and set up. It very well could open you up to a whole new market of merchandise too! Things you couldn’t haul before! Think about it!❤

I have seriously considered it, but I don't really enjoy driving with one (I tried a few times to test it), and I also feel like as I'm getting older that having something that encourages me to take even MORE stuff might be counterproductive lol

Love walking through the market with you. I just got back from a three week trip in Poland and Romania. Gdansk, on the Vistula River, had a large antique/vintage and artisan market. I met and purchased original oil paintings (painted on the back of vintage wallpaper) from Pawel Pandemonium. His art is raw and suggestive. He started out as a tattoo artist and his pieces will fit nicely in my art collection.

That looks like a wonderful show! Something for everyone. Mom had that same Larkin desk. She had been given it by her grandmother when she married. I wonder if Great Grandmother was the soap buyer or how she got it. I know Mom loved it. I'm not sure where it ended up.

It was a nice show for its size! Great Grandmother in my family would've been too young to buy the Larkin desk, I imagine it would've been her mom

Good evening, George! That Dr Pepper lunch box was in good shape...pink ain't my thing, though 😂 It's nice to actually see some Dr Pepper, though. I liked that large metal dustpan, on the end of the table. It needed some TLC, but that's not a problem. I have a neckties celluloid box, but mine is long and narrow. I liked that dough trough, but the painting on it didn't exactly look period to the middle of the C19. It was a bit too "fresh" looking, to me. I need that galvanised cart! That thing would get put to use a lot round here! I really liked that barnacle-covered buoy. That was a natural art piece. That looked to be a really fun show, and there were several items that really interested me. Thanks for the tour!
@TheAntiqueNomad
@TheAntiqueNomad Жыл бұрын
Lol no pink Peppers? I think that was pretty recent, I prefer the cinnamon red logo color. DId not think that painting was 19th century either, but the dough bowl was cute...the galvanized cart, on the other hand, was just right! Along with barnacle buoys, I'm thinking of ways to incorporate cool old things into the garden space these days (for lack of interior space, lol)
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS Жыл бұрын
Definitely the cinnamon red for Dr Pepper! If I had that galvanised cart, it would get the wheels run off it. That's something I could really use. If cloches weren't so expensive, that barnacle-covered buoy would make a fantastic art piece, to put under a cloche. My interior space, though, has been completely exhausted, as of this weekend.@@TheAntiqueNomad

The framed bit of lace was not tatting (I’ve tried to learn, but that skill eludes me). I think it was likely bobbin lace (I have a friend in Washington who did bobbin lace), which is a skill I’ve not even tried to learn.
