MORE RISK = MORE MONEY! | ANTIQUE & VINTAGE SHOPPING | QUALITY BUYS
Can you buy on a hunch and still make money? Do expensive antiques sell as fast as cheap stuff? We find out in this video, when some unknown pieces with big prices prove too beguiling to leave behind!
The stuff's all old, but the place is new to ‪@CrazyLampLady‬ and me. We've never shopped Renninger's Antique Market in Pennsylvania before, but we presume that like its Florida twin, it must be full of a huge variety of fantastic vintage stuff. Can we buy great things to resell?
What starts as a feast for the eyes turns into a feast for us resellers! While I'm happy to pick up a few good vintage values, Jocelyn and Drew show the importance of taking chances, stepping up for some really amazing art glass, a piece of unmarked pottery Jocelyn recognizes and a great studio ceramic face vase that none of us know. She loves the fancy glass, and when Drew encourages her to seize the chance to move into upscale inventory, they go for it!
From tavern ad sculptures to Curtis Jere, Daum Nancy to uranium glass, this market is chock full of both bargains for vintage resellers and serious antiques for serious buyers. Boxes full of items priced from $15 to $1500 go home with us! It pays to buy well (watch her videos to see how fast some of it sold), and we all get a taste of what it's like to trade in some of the best items I've seen in an antique mall in years.
Here's some of the great and glorious items we explore in this video:
Cast iron still banks, 19th century cathedral and cornucopia bottles, sign letters, Chalet and Lorraine glass, Fenton swung vase, Viking vaseline glass bowl, beer advertising, political pins, Loetz glass, Coralene glass, Amphora figures, mahogany furniture, ship's model, 1930s petroliana sign, Christmas collectibles, 1950s die cast vehicles, Hawaii pineapple mechanical bank, rocket bank, Zeno gum machine, tile tables, snow blower, trade stimulators and slot machine, Edison cylinder disk player and horns, DeVilbiss atomizer, silver plate scent bottle, carnival glass, peacock art glass bowl, Royal Worcester serpent handled pitcher, Leo Ward red birds, frog humidor, Wavecrest caddy, Blenko jonquil vase, Royal Doulton Romeo & Juliet jardiniere, Van Briggle indian maiden trio, pre-Prohibition whiskey bottle, Fenton custard bird, Louis Vuitton trunk, Moorcroft box,
Owens 1908 souvenir mug, 1903 Shriner's convention mug, MCM furniture and lighting, Pyrex Red Bird, vintage lighting and parts, vintage hardware, Goofus glass, political pins, Consolidated (Sinclair?) lovebirds vase, Treasure Craft whale, camel bookends, Coney Island souvenirs, pinup triptych, book sets, vintage advertising signs, Roller Disco belts, Cordey woman bust, Lenox Lido bowl, French style boudoir chairs, Pennsylvania country furniture, vintage bikes and midget racers, taxidermy, Golden Girls 1980s rattan set, Weller arts-and-crafts cameo ware, etc.

07:40 It looks like a winged dolphin, of all things. 07:51 "Biddle" was one of the descendants of the Philadelphia Biddle family who were ALLLL tied up in the Revolutionary War. 08:10 I suspect him of being Mister Toad from _The Wind in the Willows._ Most other toads don't wear waistcoats and smoke pipes. 12:13 I agree with you totally. I never see this _embarras des richesses_ in Texas. 16:30 DANG! Syria Temple of Shriners in Pittsburgh and that early?? 25:31 Gaaaahhh ... I can remember the days when you sold sets like that to interior designers, priced by the shelf foot or yard. Restaurant decorators were a particular favorite. They'd happily buy up yards of Reader's Digest Condensed Books, otherwise unsalable. 26:30 Oh, they're _gooooooood_ at chunkin' walnuts halfway across the yard! 26:41 Baubles, bangles, bright shiny beads ... collect enough of 'em, and maybe we can buy back Manhattan Island! 27:12 Clean for Gene!!! 32:35 OOOOoooohhh! YOUNG Johnny!

Good evening, George! There looked like a large bear trap, right off the go, that really caught my eye. I loved the amethyst geodes!!! That Art Nouveau glass was over-the-top fantastic - all of it!!! I liked the cabinets it was in, too. There was a two-light lamp there, with cranberry shades I really liked, and a pair of lustres that caught my eye, too. That Carnival Glass was super-nice. There was an Imperial "Diamond Lace" water set there that SERIOUSLY caught my attention. Those things can be really expensive. I've always wanted a set, but I refused to pay what they sell for. Loved that Daum Nancy piece!!! I would go nuts in that antique lighting/repair/parts space. I do like antique lighting. I would've been all over those Northwood "Cherub" Goofus Glass pieces. Those are not easily found. I have several pieces of it, but I'm always in the market for more. I'm always looking for Dr. Pepper where there are signs...not a jot of one there😂 Loved the ship model! I'd like to have a hood ornament from a Roller, but I just won't pay what they sell for. That red Carnival Glass was really nice. It took gold to make it, so it was the scarcest. Fenton made more of it than any of the makers. Northwood closed up shop and returned to England before the techniques for making the red were developed, so there are no Northwood red pieces...unless they are faked. Wow! That was a super-nice place, and a ton of items that caught my attention. I might just have to go back and rewatch this one...and pause it every two seconds🤣 Thanks for the tour!!!!!
@TheAntiqueNomad

I knew you would like and be better able to readily identify the carnival glass than I! The Cherub Goofus was Northwood? Good to know, I really liked those. I haven't owned any Rolls Royce items other than the Wedgwood premium with their hood ornament in Jasperware. Correct about red! I knew you'd enjoy this one , it was an amazing place

@@TheAntiqueNomad I zeroed in on that "Diamond Lace" set...and kind of overlooked the other pieces😅 Most all of those sets were done with the electric colours, and they are really pretty. If you get back there, and they still have the Northwood "Cherub" Goofus pieces, I'd definitely be interested in them...if they don't want an arm and a leg for them. The closest I'll ever get to owning anything from a Roller is...possibly...a hood ornament. Even those sell for some high figures, though. That was a really fantastic place!

You gave us a clue on that carnival glass. ‘You might have to wait for it’… I said Ivory in the live chat but now I going to say Red…red is the scarcest. I also think I remember you mentioning that in another video. Hope I got it right.

@@chrismaraccini8108 I think the color is different depending on who manufactured carnival glass…for example…I think Fenton’s Cherry Red and Amberina are hard to find….and so forth.

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you and Xeno! 🍀 I really need to visit this place. Wow! I’m drooling over the glass....I totally hear you on “that is why antique sellers will never get rich.” I sell $400 and buy $500 more! 😂😭😂 It’s a good thing I have a good full time job. I sold the trembleuse teacup by the way. Thank you for the accurate appraisal!

I grew up in the late 50's and 60's and i spent a lot of time on a bike . Have you seen groups of kids riding bikes together for hours lately ? I must have missed this when it first appeared. We went ti Lancaster , Pa. , ,but were there on during the week so we missed Rennigers . Misty went to a new antique store in her town that had beautiful glassware at good prices . It was featured in one of her last videos .
