Hi guys, Idealister is a good tool for generally exploring property and locations and getting a feel for local prices. Small inland towns can be a tad too quiet esp at siesta time. I remember one couple on a TV property show packing up to move closer to the coast as they said they never saw another person when they had to walk their dogs etc. Now for me I would need a bit more going on. Cheers DougT

I live in Aragon and have an excellent life, cheap houses to buy or rent, 2 bedroom apartment for 250 a month, l have 2 fincas for sale too, one is olive producing and is 20,000m2 for 9,250 and can build on, another 12,000m2 for 8,000, everything is much cheaper in Spain, if you are prepared to integrate with Spanish people then you will be good.

I love those villages great rural open areas for walking the dog, lots of wildlife . Catral is beautiful, Dolores and Benihofer. Only thing as I get older I might prefer to be in a busy area and not be totally car dependant

Thanks for the info. When we lived La Marina Urb I felt it was to impersonal and spread out. If we move back we want something with more of a community feel and walking distance to bars and restaurants. Covid pushed us back to the states. We miss Spain and the Mediterranean in general. We have lived in Greece, Malta and Spain over the years.

Alcoy is ridiculously cheap, no idea why - very picturesque, not too small to have things going on, gorgeous landscapes and mountain backdrops - but it does get cold in the winter, so there's that. I think the problem with inland properties is that they can take ages to sell if you need to, so you have to want to live there forever. I've seen the same nice property up for sale on Idealista for a year and a half in Alcoy, it would be gone in a day at double the price in Torrevieja!

I viewed a really nice property in Alcoy in 2014. It only sold about two years ago.

Integration and learning Spanish is key, and when buying the property always negotiate because it’s a buyer’s market

Problem is Brits want to be British in Spain, its all eggs and chips and do not learn the language, when spanish cannot understand you it is a matter of shouting at them in an angry manner.

We drove through there a few times 2 weeks ago. Try Catral , a crackin wee agricultural town , 2 mins off the Ap7 , we've had a place there 17 years , no regrets at all , though we don't stay there full time but we're very friendly with quite a few that do. 4 supermarkets , a petrol station, a big 'china shop;,a few car repair garages , nice church square , 3 british bars / restaurants , 2 Indian restaurants , a chinese , an Argentinain, a Dutch , an Italians and loads of Spanish bars and restaurants.......can't recommend it enough.

Outside of the tourist areas, you will need to speak Spanish well, or you will feel like a perpetual tourist, day to day life is difficult if you cannot communicate with the local people.

It would be good to see some inland villages 30/40 min from the coast but with public transport, with the 90 day rule people won't want to buy a car but would move if the could get to the coast when they wanted.
@Angie-mt40B11 ай бұрын
Hi, I live in the mountains above Malaga. It is more expensive to eat in the villages cheeper on the coast. However house tax is cheeper.

We used to have a place in the next village over, San Bartolome. Just sold up to begin a new adventure half-way up a mountain over in rural Andalucia. These small villages are fantastic & we loved our 8 years there but you do need a car because the public transport can be slightly unpredictable on occasion & you definitely need to speak some Spanish.

But how do you define "value" is very important. You can buy inland property for 25k but can you go for beach walk one evening or choose one to tens of breakfast place for to tomorrow morning breakfast or all other social events that take place where you live in city like Torrevieja vs living inland where nearly any thing happen and dead most of time. I live in the Midwest of the states in the US bunch small towns, very depressing to me and i can't wait to move away.

No keep them on and protect your eyes from the sun. If this person for some reason wishes to see your eyes they can perhaps wait for a video of you indoors. Lol strange comment. I look forward to seeing you show more videos. It would also be nice if in the future you go further down the coast more south but inland. Also those that have some transport toward the coast even if not regular. Info like that is quite important. I wouldn't want to live full time in a busy tourist spot but it would be nice to visit every now and again. Thanks for the video.
