omg the disobedience thing actually blew my mind in real time too, I had no idea the priority system worked that way with disobedience, let alone that it could cause the pokemon to just switch to another move like that. This is why I love escape rooms like this, every time I discover super obscure fun mechanics about this franchise I've loved for over a decade that I would've never discovered otherwise or mechanics used in super creative ways I would've never thought of

Pokédollar? I always called them pokébucks.
@JaharNarishma3 ай бұрын
@@objectshowfan362 they are literally yen, not bucks or dollars. When I first started seeing videos and streams of people playing Pokémon I was sure that the first person was doing a joke when they used dollars. When every single one didn't use yen, as the games tells us, I was amazed. I wonder why the yen, which would match prices in the game to real world prices, isn't the common word. Very odd.
@objectshowfan3623 ай бұрын
@@JaharNarishma I think it boils down to the fact that we're on a region in the world that doesn't use yen and the recent games don't mention that they're yen, at least that I know of. Besides, who are you to gatekeep what people call the in-game currency? Everyone has their own name for that currency, and you shouldn't try to tell people that you can't call it "pokédollars" or "pokébucks" because the game (supposedly) tells you as such.
@JaharNarishma3 ай бұрын

That Disobedience strat is actually insane, and that might actually have some incredibly specific application to things like Nuzlockes. There's absolutely a ton of risk involved, as there's a chance it could backfire and they fall asleep, get confused, or simply do nothing, but doing this on a Pokemon with Insomnia or Own Tempo or something like that and using it to give a Pokemon priority on a move it shouldn't have could be insanely clutch. Like imagine setting up priority weather in every fight using this strat. Though unfortunately wouldn't work if doing a hardcore ruleset, as you would never be overleveled

this reminds me of the Battle CDs from XD Gale of Darkness, which in the higher difficulties had some rather byzantine solutions required. this is like an interlocking series of even more niche versions of that complete with inventory/money management. I'm trying to spitball a similar kind of puzzle here. a doubles situation where one Pokemon is very powerful and alternates Protect with a devastating move, and their partner uses Follow Me on the off turn. the only way is to use a move that bypasses Protect. also the Follow Me Pokemon is Shedinja and you don't seem to have any moves to deal with it. except one of your Pokemon will learn a Rock move upon leveling up if they gain the experience from beating Shedinja's partner. but Shedinja will use Protect itself if its first partner faints on turn one. and its new partner will KO your Pokemon with a Rock move, putting you in an unwinnable position. let's say the Protect bypassing move is Hyper Drill so it doesn't work on Shedinja. the solution is that your other Pokemon will also level up and learn Imprison, and it already knows Protect. note though that Shedinja will use Spore turn 1 on your future Imprison user, so you'll need a way to avoid that. you'd think 'oh obviously Protect', but here's the thing . Protect on that particular Pokemon has 0 PP and you're currently unable to heal or obtain a Leppa berry or any PP restoration. so Protect's only utility on that Pokemon is for Imprison to work against Shedinja. So the Imprison user has to use Hyper Drill, while their partner has to use Worry Seed on them. Turn One Enemy Partner One uses Protect, Shedinja uses Spore Rock Move user uses Worry Seed on Imprison user, Imprison user uses Hyper Drill to KO Enemy Partner One Enemy Partner Two comes out Rock Move user and Imprison user level up, get to learn the necessary moves Enemy Partner Two is slow, but will KO your Rock user turn two basically no matter what, while Shedinja will definitely go for Protect now that you have a Rock move. so the Imprison user of course uses Imprison, blocking Shedinja from selecting Protect. Turn 3 then, it's down to Partner Two vs Imprison user. it's another sure KO situation, but again, Partner Two is slow as shit. but it seems impossible to KO it in one turn because its one offensive move is kind of weak. but as long as you didn't delete it for Imprison, your Imprison user has Reflect Type, and Enemy Partner 2's only offensive move is a move its own type is immune to (I'm thinking it's a Ghost, but it uses Vital Throw), so if you use Reflect Type, you can whittle away at it while it can do nothing. Enemy Partner One Physically frail enough to die to one Hyper Drill, knows Protect and Close Combat Shedinja Knows Protect, Follow Me Enemy Partner Two Ghost type with Vital Throw somehow Rock user: weak to Fighting, starts with Worry Seed and on level up learns Power Gem, which happens at the end of turn 1 Imprison user: starts with Protect with 0 PP, Reflect Type, some Ghost-resisted move like Poison Jab maybe, and Hyper Drill, which you have to delete for Imprison because it's not usable against Partner Two and Shedinja anyway. additional wrinkles - both Pokemon will only level up mid-battle if they gain a tiny amount of experience beforehand from a wild battle in the grass. as previously mentioned, once this phase is reached, the Pokemon Center is unreachable you need to give a Heart Scale to an NPC to remember Worry Seed. the Pokemon that will learn Imprison is a trade Pokemon from another NPC, who wants a Pokemon you can find in the grass, but seems impossible to catch there's a hidden Quick Ball, which requires you to do a little puzzle to get it that relies on game knowledge. I'm thinking having to match gym badge to the city of the gym they come from, but it's all symbolic, with the place representing the city being a little representation of its most famous landmark. Ecruteak would have the Tin Tower, Mossdeep would have the Space Center, Nimbasa would have the ferris wheel, Vermilion would have the SS Anne, and Snowpoint would have Snowpoint Temple. I don't know if this all works and it'd need a ton more tweaks, but it's fun to spitball

@suenwaising31133 ай бұрын
I think the answer to that 40-minute grinding may be the move Substitute? In this video, Mr. Mime has 71 HP at Lv 29, and Natu has 84 HP. If Pluck beats Mr. Mime to below 50% HP, a single Substitute would drop its HP to below 25% HP. Then Mr. Mime can use Endeavor on Natu. Since Mr. Mime has less max HP than Natu, 25% HP of Mr. Mime would be less than 25% HP of Natu, hence triggering Natu's custap berry.
