I have one of these Bluetti EB3A and used it on my last camping trip to keep my setpower 12v frig powered for 8 days straight. It surpassed the time that I thought it would take to draw down the battery, I was able to get about 16 hours of use between charges which ment I didn't have to worry about it running out of power well sleeping during the night.

Great idea with the fridge test. You can extend that long obviously with solar option. Also if you were in a true blackout, and you couldn’t use solar… the fridge will last the first 4 hours without anything spoiling provided you don’t open it. So you technically can wait a bit to hook up the fridge, let it run for about an hour or so to get cold, then unplug it and repeat. That will allow you to extend that 6 hours significantly.

FWIW, I think there's a physics issue here that is overlooked. While it might help some (because the insides won't maintain the 40 degree temp desired (0 for freezer)), one could do the same thing by pushing the fridge temp setting up some. The reason I don't think it's going to help a lot is because when the fridge is turned back on it will be running the compressor constantly for a long time to try to bring the temp back down. In normal continuous powered operation, it's going to cycle on and off like a thermostat does with the AC in a house. So it's kinda already doing the on-off cycling. It's just maintaining the internal temperatures more constant if the Bluetti is left on. I wonder what average temperature is OK for food over a 12 hour or day-long period ?

Plugging and unplugging won’t help it last longer. A fridge only runs periodically and takes power when the compressors on when it gets over the 40° or whatever you have it set at. If it’s uplugged for a time it’s gonna go way over when you plug it back in the fridge will run and draw power for an hour straight.

We use EB3A for our router and as a charging station at night in our off grid home. Works great like he said on gaming pc and charging phones. Router pulling 22w runs for an easy 6hrs with occasional phone charge on the usb-c. This battery made it possible for us to test Bluetti and LiFeP04 even if small capacity battery. We know plan on going with AC200Max and couple B230 for power station in the spring

I've actually used this thing to make a pot of coffee with power lifting mode turned on. Uses about half the battery, maybe a little more to make a full pot. Doesn't make the coffee quite as hot as wall AC power, but still pretty hot and perfectly drinkable.

I just ordered this generator. I'm elderly and had no idea what to order as well as a solar panel inexpensive 100 watt. Hope it works. I'm on SS so couldn't get an expensive one. This is the best in depth video I've seen. You explained things I haven't seen or surely wouldn't know. Such a great help for me. Our electricity went out a couple weeks ago and I was litterly pouring water over my head until I got a small 5000 window unit. My HVAC is out but I have no idea how many watts it uses. We're having a very hot summer here in Louisiana so far. I barely get out of in front of this little ac. K have COPD so it's very hard to breathe outside. But in the winter, I use a 100 watt electric throw. Thank you so much for showing us this in depth review. I did sub. 🙏

I have a lot wrong with this home and no running car, no running water since 2018 because I can't afford a water heater and now mold, but my electric bill went down the last 2 months by about $25 each month just using electricity. Thank you so much for making this video! I appreciate the way you used real devices in your examples because I'm not an electrician and I don't know a an amp from a watt. All I need is an estimate of "about" how long a power device can give me power during an outage. I won't be powering my fridge; I just won't open the door as often. If you plan on making future videos, I'd love to see one with a unit that charges the following while the public power is out: - One 30"-50" flat panel tv (perhaps a DVD player) - One laptop - One 75-100 watt lamp - One floor fan To be honest, when you started talking about the roku and routers and the blah, blah...I stopped paying attention because it didn't apply to me (and I don't think most will care about their security cameras during a power outage). BUT...during a power outage I do want to be entertained. The laptop is mandatory, the tv could be optional in a pinch, but during the summer I'll really need the fan. My internet has a built-in battery backup of it's own, so I won't power it. If you were to do another real world example of minimal devices, that would be great. OR, OR, or, you could do this. All electrical devices have a label that shows volts, watts and all that stuff. Tell me what to look at, and count up on these labels so I know what size watts or volts or amps I need to run the stuff in my house. That way "everybody" can see how much power they use. I know...I can't tell you what to do. I know, I could make my own video. Please allow me to be clear; I'm only suggesting. Your video is GREAT and I've got no complaints. All I'm saying is, if you're thinking about another video, I'm suggestion one for the average Joe. Some folks wanna know how long their CPAP machine will run, not everyone has a house and just want to keep a single room air conditioned, others need a tablet to run so their kid won't go bezerk (teach a Bro to fish, why don't cha). I will say this though; if you can spend $300 and keep your food from spoiling for 5-6 hours, that's pretty (explative) good, because short of a hurricane, six hours is plenty (for me). I plugged in a 8000 btu midea u shape window ac unit ,couldn't believe it ran it. Wasn't even pushing it hard, only about 350 watts had it on for about 20 minutes and had 82% left from 100% ,went down to about 100 watts for a bit with ac on eco mode. But still.. that's just wild, probably wouldn't have went much more than an hour but impressed!!. Realistically this is more about the ac since the eb3a but I didn't have any expectations of eb3a working for an 8000 btu ac at all , I have a pecron e2000 lfp for the ac unit and it will run it for about 7 hours give or take depending on factors that change, but nice to know the little eb3a could step in for a bit if needed, as I'm in Arizona and we need our ac units when power goes down

@@jacobortwine7063 I use mine for camping. I already have an ecoflow but once everyone at my campsite site saw those AC sockets they hogged it. So bought another eb3a for them to use. I use it for airmatress, running a projector and charging devices. Most of all I got it for emergencies since I can't run a combustion generator where I live. I'm sure it can run a single cup coffee maker since run time is soo short. There is some kind of wattage boost like the ecoflow to run high wattage devices for a short time. I will be buying a 12 volt portable refrigerator and can't wait to test my generators on that.

Great video! Hours in decimal format is not hard to calculate though. For every 0.1, add 6 minutes. So, if it's 1.3 hours, it's 1 hour + (6*3) = 1 hour 18 minutes. People tend to make that much harder than it really is...

I've preached in Ukraine years ago.... in and around Kiev. I'm living in South Africa now where the power grid goes off everyday. We own an Ecoflow Delta 2. You want the Delta 2 because it has the better Phosphate battery. We might also buy a Bluetti. Both are of world class quality. The ecoflow may charge a bit faster but Bluetti has some cool features I like....such as the light, and phone charger on the top. I'm praying for you all and your country. I still have a former step son lving in Kiev with his grandmother. My American missionary friend who has a church there in Kiev....had to return to the states with his wife, until things get better. He's 80 years old and still working for the Lord. He loves the Ukrainian people, and his wife is from there. He still hopes to return to continue his work there. Stay Strong, and keep the Faith!!!

You made a really great video. It was detailed without being boring and I hung on 'til the bitter end, but I was ultimately disappointed. The very thing that I was most interested in hearing your take on just got glossed over with no testing, whatsoever. That would be the Power Lift Mode. I have two of these units and they simply don't do what I was lead to understand they should do in Power Lift Mode (I'll refer to it as PLM going forward) I've seen less competent YT reviewers try the PLM with inductive loads and with resistive loads that exceed the 1200 watt maximum, but none that actually test the unit the way it should be tested. All of those reviewers have proudly pointed out that the PLM was working while, at the same time, displaying instrument readings that clearly show that much less than 600 watts was being delivered to the device. Maybe you could do a Part 2 and test that feature properly with a strictly resistive load (no fan or blower motors involved, as in a 1800 watt heat gun) that was no more than 1200 watts. My own tests, with both my units, running a 900 watt toaster, shows a power output to it that is closer to 250 watts than 600 watts. I got similar results with a drip coffee maker. Based on the actual instruments being displayed in those videos that I mentioned, nobody else is getting 600 watts in PLM either, they just didn't understand what they were seeing well enough to know that they weren't or they didn't understand how PLM was supposed to work. I look forward to your further testing, if you think it would be worthwhile.

I'd be interested to hear what you think about its pros and cons, versus the Delta Mini. I think I'd like having a smaller unit to power at least my modem upstairs, so I don't need to run a 100-ft extension cord down to the larger unit where it's powering the fridge. By the way, my Delta Max kept my older fridge and mini fridge going all night during an extended power outage last week, with 25% charge left to spare!

I wish Bluetti (and Jackery and others) would quote more info on the surge-power rating - specifically: how long will the EB3A put out it's rated surge power of 1200W? It's one thing to have a nice 2x factor for "surges" (the EB3A is a 600W unit), but without knowing how long you can expose the unit to that surge power level, the spec is not useful. Of course refrigerators only quote their run power (usually conservatively), so we don't know what their surge is or how long it lasts either :-( FWIW, I took my EB3A and hooked it to an 800Watt PTC heater and it cut out in less than a second. So the surge rating is not useful for anything 1 second or longer. Not Bluetti's fault - same with Jackery, etc. - which is why real-world fridge testing like you did is so valuable. Thanks for the video !

You misunderstood what surge means. It's for fridges and things like that - that normally run at a low wattage of say 200 watts or less, but when the compressor kicks in, it surges up to say 1000 watts or so, but only for a second.... you hope...lol. Some new eco friendly fridges might do better than older power hungry fridges. It's a hit and miss thing. But your heater doesn't work like a fridge does. You connected your EB3A to a 800 watt heater. It won't run that high.... not in normal mode. Maybe in power lifting mode it might run it but then the heater will only be putting out 600 watts of heat.... not 800. You see? I live in South Africa now and have to deal with this garbage all the time. It's my life now......hope this helps. Cheers!

I have an Anker 757 and very pleased thus far, have run a Kranzle 1622 @1703watts for heavy load testing and it handled it with easy, also a 14amp miter saw with no problems, had plenty of power left after the project, I really want to see someone recharge these with a portable generator because if we can fast charge @1000 watts(Anker 757) for 1-2 hours that would really allow you to get more run time for extended power outtages

Fantastic review! I think on cons, you'd have to add the buzzing sound from the fan. I think as far as suggestions, in addition to a setting for how long the screen stays on, a setting which would turn on the light automatically if disconnected from power, would be great for a power outage at night. Question: can you turn off the bluetooth? obviously it's handy, but it would be nice to have a way to turn it off when you don't need it. Overall, I'm very interested in getting this, and I don't consider any of the cons to be obstacles. I had hoped to find something exactly like this, but _ideally_ it would have a couple hundred more maximum watts of output rate, so it could do double-duty as a UPS for a _desktop_ work computer (one which draws 800+ watts under load). It's certainly not a requirement, I can get a separate UPS for computer. But it would have been nice if this killed 2 birds with one stone.

Bluetti EB3A and refrigerator Warning - consider all load scenarios when evaluating inverter capacity. I bought the EB3A to serve as a backup and UPS for our main full size refrigerator. I had some concern whether it could handle it since the fridge nameplate is 10A but the running load of the fridge is less than 300W and the startup is just a momentary surge. So I hooked it up and all was good until the first time we tried to get ice from the ice dispenser. To my surprise the ice dispenser runs over 600W which is the max rating of the EB3A inverter. So, it trips off on overload. After replicating the issue multiple times it is clear that the EB3A will not work for our fridge. This is unfortunate as any of the larger units come a noticeably higher cost. I’m sharing this as a warning to consider all load scenarios when evaluating the size needed for a battery unit. The unit seems to work fine for normal fridge operation but the ice dispenser is a needed daily function.

Thanks Lee If your panel actually will produce 200 W, it would take about two hours, but assume it will give you say 150w then it will take around 3 hours

I've been to Ukraine on a short term missions trip years ago. Now living in South Africa where the grid goes down almost everyday for hours at a time, so I feel your pain. I own thr EB3A, solid unit.. even accidentally drop it twice ans hold up well… no issue. Only thing is it charged slow even when outside is temp is 50ish degrees… wish the BMS isn’t so restricted

Can I use my EB3A in UPS Bypass Mode (plugged into AC power) with my modem/router (plugged into the EB3A) so that even if we have a blackout/brownout my modem/router will still have power from the EB3A battery? Our plan is to keep the EB3A in UPS Bypass Mode 365 days a year as insurance against frequent power failures where we live. Will this overheat our EB3A, or overcharge the battery, or any other unforeseen trouble?

Thanks As you saw during the ups demo it was pretty quick but we weren’t able to get the timing from Bluetti , I would not recommend connecting a computer to be safe but most other items should be fine.

I remember I was looking first for a power bank charger for my phone and gopro cam, and I came across to see these power stations listed on my google search for power bank. I did more research for these bluetti and I got it. Also there is a lot of videos that talk about the unit but they never mention the fact that if you thought this little powerful unit is awesome, there is an add up to that, and it is that you can increase the battery capacity from 268 capacity you can extend that even more if you make your own connectors to a lifepo4 50 or 100 ah battery. Instead of getting the standard 30 watt hours you can even make it up to 1230 hour watts.

I live in South Africa where the power goes off almost everyday. Sometimes for days at a time. In a total black out.... you can wait the first six to eight hours, as the freezer will stay cold for that long. Then use the Bluetti for one hour in every 4 hours. Because the nights are cooler... you could even skip using it while you sleep. That little unit might keep your stuff cold enough for a few days doing it this way. Also... using solar will extend this to whenever....

Great video and I’ve now subscribed, however you never mentioned that you need to turn on the DC to use usb! I recently bought this unit after having an Anker 521 due to its higher rated ac inverter so that can boil a small travel kettle in my campervan. However I have found the efficiency very poor when charging via USB and have been getting only 7 or 8 phone charges before the unit is depleted which is even less than the Anker which I thought was very poor compared to the claimed battery capacity. What are you thoughts on this?

The price that they're selling this unit at and what you're getting is actually pretty good but keep in mind getting a larger battery will always cost more. This unit obviously is an expandable like many small units you might want to look at a Delta 2, not only is it more powerful but you can also buy expansion batteries. Thank you for this awesome review. I left mine is in standard/default charging and it gets pretty warm, it also stays very warm when the unit is on and nothing is plugged in. Did you notice this as well?

Hi Alfie thank you and I did notice it does get a little warm. Just make sure you check for any firmware updates on the app. They do end up fixing some things that maybe you’re not experiencing right now. Also, my recommendation try not to charge it past 90% and try not to let it drop below 10%. That’s just battery maintenance that’s all. Of course, if you need to use the full 100% you can, but don’t do that too often.

Thank you for your feedback. I wasnt sure if I received a defective unit. I also found some burning smells from the unit, maybe the initial use? I am trying to use this in my gun safe to power my watch winders. When I open the safe, there is a burning smell. I may send it back and get another unit, as the box I received it in was damaged.. it may have been bumped around too much

No it’s really not due to the small battery. Good for small devices , phones , laptop. My refrigerator is a newer more efficient model and it did help. I’d recommend getting a unit with a bigger battery depending on your needs

I used a DC7909 connector, bought from ebay and meant for charging a Lenovo laptop i think, which takes 100w PD and charged my EB3A using PD from an Omnicharge 25600 mAh power pack through the MPPT port on the EB3A

That's a hard question you know how many times are you going to charge your phones how big are the batteries in your phones. Led lights don't use much wattage but again, how many watts if your light and how many hours a day would you have the light on. As you can tell I really can't answer that question but it's something to think about
