You’re the first person to compare these two models, I’ve been looking for a video like this for weeks trying to find the best v Mount option, going between either the Camvate or the Tilta. Both are great options but I think I was leaning more towards the Tilta. This videos makes me think a lot more before I make the decision. Thanks so much!

I bought a Forge DP500 A couple of years ago, only complaint is the rod hinge design isn't as robust as I would prefer when steading the rig against my shoulder.

The arm is cool, but it seems like I'd rather have a big flat plate dining into my chest/belly than the corner of that arm. (Obviously depends on how you need to hold your camera.) I need one with a power switch though, so I'm considering this one...

Hey there! It is possible to use the v mount battery plate usb-c port as a charger input? For example a small rig v mount plate with USB-C? Thanks!
@coastaerialimaging20272 жыл бұрын
I just purchased the Smallrig battery plate and was wondering where you purchased the barrel 8V and 12V power connectors. I have the R5 and would like to power it using the USB-C. I guess I could build one but don't really want to do that unless absolutely neccessary. It seems that Smallrig does not supply any of those connectors except D-Tap with a barrel but I don't need that. Thanks for your help.

Hi! Thanks for the comparison, the smallrig one looks just the part. However, Adorama link says backorder, B&H shows the plate as discontinued and it doesn't appear on Smallrig's own website - only the stock plate with no adapter / connectivity options. Could it be that it's already discontinued?

Update, just saw your reply on the thread here, looks like Smallrig are updating the plate from what you've said. Thanks for the video!

one question , if my monitor and camera have different voltage is it bad to connect them directly to the battery with D-TAP splitter or shall I be aware of something? or shall I get a v mount plate with the different voltage inputs?

Btw Michael, do you have any experience based advice on choosing Gold vs V mount?
@xonx2092 жыл бұрын
Can you test the voltage conversion efficiency of the plates? For example, if you draw 1A from the 12V output, how much current is drawn from the battery? If it is 100% efficient, it would draw 12/14.4 = 833 mA

Thanks for the review. FWIW, I've read a number of reviews that the SmallRig's articulating arm can't support large V-mount batteries, which could be an issue for some. Q: Do you know if the Tilta's 8V and 12V outputs are regulated? Unregulated power can fry a camera, so I'd want to be 110% certain those are regulated before using them.

Can you post the (Blackmagic) camera by a dummy battery with V mount or some other solution as most hybrid shooters (Sony et al)?

I don't know much about v mount batteries, but I bought a D&O battery and tried using it with an Indipro V mount adapter plate, but there seemed to be some play between the two. If I moved the assembly, it would sometimes lose connection/power, and my camera would turn off. Have you ever had experience where a battery and a plate don't marry perfectly and have connection issues? Anyway, I returned the Indipro and just ordered a Smallrig plate. I hope it works with the D&O battery

can you actually mount tilta plate vertically? I heard its not possible and I really want you confirm if its true or not
@MichaelDeVowe3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is possible. I believe the first version of the Tilta v Mount battery plate did not have holes to mount the rail clamp. That has since been discontinued and this new version does have holes for the rail mount.
