Because the kryptonite is radioactive under yellow sun. On their home world it wasn't radioactive because of the red sun. The yellow sun effects the kryptonite just like it affects the kryptonians.

@@edenramos9686 It was the comic canon for a few years when Superman's origin was revamped for Post Crisis. But had long since been retconned by the time this episode and series aired. Then it just became simply Kryptonian Hubris and they were not a space travel capable society. But Smallville never ever established that. They weren't completely clear but it seems like Zod took control of Brainiac and used him to unleash a weapon that destroyed Krypton. I say they weren't clear because they danced around the exact details.

10:30 First off, Clark could've just pulled out the knife and chucked it away from him if he was strong enough to do so while falling once he was a safe enough distance from the portal. Second, a fall from several stories up with no powers will make you splatter over the payment, bones crushed messed up organs and all. Third, Lois recognized the knife and i'm sure knows the effect that it has on Clark, but rather than just immediately pull it out, she lets it sit there long enough for Clark to have his little near-death experience. Wtf

Blood loss and the knife was probably stuck in his guts. Probably didn't go splat as he still had enough durability. Lois was emotional and doesn't know Kryptonite effects Kryptonians(she doesn't know they are even aliens I think).

Bizarro is designed to be the antithesis of someone else. This version being Kal el. The rocks work backwards on Bizarro. Blue kyrptonite would rob a kryptonian of their powers as long as they are in contact with it. On Bizarro, it overloaded him with power to the point where he couldn't contain it any longer

What the different colors could do were not set in stone when the show came out. It's probably thanks to this show that the rules were established. On this show Blue K actually killed Bizarro. But also on this show it strips Kryptonians of their powers while in their presence. Gold K was permanent.
