I only recently suggested this to another KZbin channel. We use it all the time when sea fishing in the UK. You can also combine baits like squid and mussels. Get yourself a piece of plastic tube about 3/4" D and 8" in length and cut it in half lengthways. You can lay your bait in layers, whip the bait elastic then slide the whole thing off the tube.

Looks great. Just remember to use a 100% cotton thread. It's usually more expensive but we really can't afford more plastic in the ocean in the case where the thread does come off.

I learned this method as a kid, or a mix/combo of baits, worms, squid or cut bait, wrapped with 'magic Thread" is a common technique used by coastal anglers in S. Africa. Try this, take some frozen bait sardines, lay them on newsprint (in a shallow tray) covered with coarse salt, lightly sprinkle brown sugar over them, make a few layers with news print in between and on top, leave this for 24 hours. the baitfish (sardines) will be rubbery and firm, durable. the 'juice' in the bottom of the shallow pan can be used as an attractant. thanks.

J-hook baitholders you build the bait around the shank. Circle hook the bait should hang off the bend you can make a nylon or steel dangle and build the bait on there with the cotton then hook it on the hook bend of the circle hook. Otherwise you could miss hook sets when the bait clumps up around the bend and barb.

Magic thread is the absolute best solution for securing a ghost shrimp to a #2 hook. Ghost shrimp maybe the absolute best bait for pompano on the Texas Gulf coast.
@jamessparks6133 Жыл бұрын
Great tips... love your videos Skipper. Never tried the magic thread idea.. wonder if you could pre-wrap it around a small cylinder stretching it while you wrap, then stick the bait in the end and slide the wrapped thread over the bait to snap into position. Just a thought to speed up the process.. I've always used cheesecloth on catfish bait to hold it all together and on the hook better. Same concept really though.

Both of you guys are wrong. (regulated by the Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Council) Minimum size limit: none Daily bag limit: 3 per person for anglers fishing from private recreational vessels and 5 per person on for-hire vessels. It’s only Miami through Nassau. They know what they’re posting. @904fishing @xinfloridalife.
@904Fishing Жыл бұрын
@@antoniobruno6505 no, I’m not. The Mid-Atlantic Fishery management council was established from the Fishery Conservation and Management Act in 1976 to manage fisheries within U.S. federal waters. Florida state waters extend 3 nautical miles into the Atlantic so unless they’re casting 3+ miles, they fall under state jurisdiction, which would be FWC. Which states the minimum size limit for Blue fish in the NE region of Florida is 12” at the fork.
