This was not only helpful and engaging but also validating. I feel like therapy had to be more than COTW every single session, even if I didn't have a crisis. This has been my experience for 2yrs. I also didn't know you could have a consult to see if the therapist works well for you. My insurance told me they couldn't identify their providers by race, either. So this was very informative, and I appreciate the resources provided. I definitely took screenshots of them. Thank you @Amanda Seales TV and @Dr. Raquel Martin

Lies, I’m from NYC and I appreciate the rapid pace of speech. It keeps me engaged. I have received the slower pace of speech, largely incorrectly, as condescending. Something about the tempo allows me to absorb all of the details. The slower talk is chopped and screwed and words seem to get lost in the space in between.

First…. Ms. Amanda, I’m subscribing today to your patreon account😅. But concerning being diagnosed…. I straight up thought I was intellectually delayed as a child and because I was an avid reader, no one knew. I was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia in college. As confirming as the diagnosis were, I immediately fell into a depression. One professor picked up on one little change on how I preformed on an exam and sent me on a path that truly changed things for me. So the depression came from confirming that I had been invisible my entire childhood.

Check to see if your clinician is licensed. They can harm you. Know your why and your goals for therapy Interview the therapist. Dont settle on one until youve done your research. 1. How did you feel when you walked, logged in or out of the session? 2. Did time go by fast or slow? Fast means there was a level of comfort. Unless you felt rushed in some way. If clinician is caucasian: 1. What are your opinions regarding implications of racism on mental health? 2. Do you have difficulty discussing oppression? 3. Do you identify different levels of oppression? The structure of this question wasnt worded well Here is my thought on what she was saying you should ask Do you think people putting their privilege or racism on me has anything to do with the presenting symptoms I stated? The text she read from the therapist. That therapist sounds more like an agent/handler. Glad you got out of that space as you were not safe!

@MarlaHamilton-z7d Жыл бұрын
@@jihanwilliams3837 it is a method therapists use to help us reprocess trauma in a manner more conducive to our long term well being. They can do it with sound in both ears or a dot for your eyes do follow from side to side. I’m not sure why it works but after a year and a half I feel so differently about many things that I’ve experienced.
@MarlaHamilton-z7d Жыл бұрын
@@jihanwilliams3837 to add as much detail as possible, my therapist would periodically bring up situations We discussed the issues I brought up in our initial consultation and things that would come up especially if they were bothering me. We alternated between me looking at the dot move and her asking questions for about 10 minutes or so. Hope that helps.

I wouldn’t consider Jung a “colonizer creep” grouped in with the other guys. Jung’s true nature was hidden because of those aforementioned creeps. But much later after his death a lot of his work came to light such as The Red Book where he showed images from his dreams. The biggest thing missing from Western psychology is the concept of the soul and integrating it into personal experience. Jung’s work helped me to go deeper into my psyche to understand why I was triggered and then I was able to adjust in real time to lower anxiety. Or to go deeper and understand my soul urge and accept myself. Jung knew that western psychology was insufficient and he went to Africa and Asia to have different experiences.
