1.5 million are illegal living here - over 5 years that will be around 250,000-350,000 extra Over 5 years including legal immigration we will have an extra 3.75 million people living here and that’s if 500,000 leave each year. It’s around 1.2 million come here to the UK each year. We will be a minority in our own country sooner than we think

Claire even before we joined the then common markets the British passport still needed a visitors visa for most countries! I remember my first holiday on the Med in 1975 and we needed a visa which cost a basic fee. I’m not surprised that there would still be a cost, other countries do it.

If they were sent are back within 24 hours of arrival the news would quickly spread to those waiting to come over. They will then realise that their high risk boat trip is a waste of time and that the thousands of pounds they pay to the people traffickers is a very poor investment. It won't "smash the gangs" but it will certainly make a significant dent to their lucrative, immoral business.

These are not poor families fleeing persecution and seeking asylum, ( Even if they were they've travelled through countries that could grant this )....these are mainly single,fit young men most with likely military training and experience, they're answering a call.... I'll leave it to your imagination what that could possibly be. It's obviously beyond the skillset of our current politicians and Government to effectively deal with this and should really be handed to military trained individuals to take command and control.
